We went out today to price a few things...and I just have to say...I've heard people rave about fry's for months....every single thing we priced there was more expensive and some things (like a certain tv we are looking at getting) were as much as 100 bucks over H H Gregg (and 90 dollars more than circuit city)
I wont be going to fry's again

I'm sorry to say that concepts like this don't work at all. Why? Because we are greedy Americans. We will buy twice as much tomorrow to compensate for not buying anything today. Corporate America is laughing at these attempts at "buy nothing or buy no gas day"
Sorry to burst your bubble. |

Must be feeling pretty happily self-righteous. Yes, some people are greedy. Some people are not. Some people buy just to buy. Others buy because of less selfish reasons. Everyone's motivations are different, and forgive me if I don't think it's up to us to make sweeping generalizations and condemnations of the large group of people who dare to make the most of their limited budgets in the best way they see fit. By the way, at my mall it was crowded. Packed. Never seen so many people there. And folks were well-behaved, mannerly, leisurely (of course I didn't go until after noon, maybe the early-morning crowds were more fierce). I hardly even encountered usual number of screaming, crying kids. Maybe not having a chip on my shoulder about the whole thing colored my experiences for the positive. By the way, I may sound angry, but I'm not. Weird, huh?

On the subject of my ex, I'm sure I could trace the roots of many of her characteristics back to her mother if I really tried, including her being a colossal bitch, but just because her mother taught her to do it doesn't mean it's right.
Perhaps I do have a chip on my shoulder, but I wasn't accusing you, or anyone in particular of being a drone or sacrificing dignity. Obviously when I say something like 'everyone is a drone' I don't mean literally everybody. I was trying to articulate an opinion I have that the 'consumer experience' has a way of reducing people to dollar signs chasing the biggest 'sale' sign, which I think is pretty sad. It's my opinion, that's all. And: Quote:

Computer components are inexpensive and plentiful at Fry's. That's probably about 95% of what I buy there, with the other 5% being games. Just make sure you don't end up buying a result of their very liberal return policy - these are all marked as such on the box, so paying attention will avoid this hassle. |
