Pets and Heat reminder
It's hottern' hell all over the place in the US. Just a reminder to pet owners not to leave them in the car even for a little while. Cars are ovens in the summer. Temps can soar over 150 degrees. Cracking the windows doesn't work. Take 'em with you when you leave your car.
And always have plenty of cool water for them when they're out in the heat. Remember that dogs and cats can't disperse heat like we do through sweating, AND they wear a permanent fur coat. |

Yes, this is certainly true about pets.
It applies equally to children. So far this year 19 children have died from heat stroke inside a vehicle. In 20 minutes the temperature inside a car can increas by 29 degrees. Cracking the windows does not have any significant effect, possible no effect. If I see a child unattended in a car, I call 911 first thing to report it. In California, especially in our 100 degree plus current temperatures, police take this seriously. That five minute trip to drop off some film or buy just a Coke and a bag of chips can easily become 15 minutes without your thinking about it, and in that time that care that started out at 80 degrees is now over a hundred. Never leave a child unattended in a car for any length of time for any reason. All stats in my post come from the referenced web site.

A woman here where i'm at was arrested a few days ago for leaving her 4 year old and the family dog in the car. When the fire department arrived the temp inside the car was 132 degrees. The dumb heffer was "just running inside for a minute." Sorry you cant just run inside a super wal-mart for a minute. I hope she gets serious jail time for her stupidity. Our local paper did a nice article reminding everyone about pets.
LEAVE YOUR PETS HOME!!!!
