hmm.
there's a fine line between disturbing and just plain sick. self, the most disturbing thing I've seen... toss up between watching clips of people throw themselves out of windows (9/11) while listening to the WTC remix of "Blinded by Rainbows", watching Schindler's List as a kid, or watching Requiem for a Dream as an adult who knows a lot of druggies...

Most disturbing accident - there's a tunnel where I-10 becomes Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica - it's a two-lane, right-hand curve and you have to already be slowing down when you enter it. It's known locally as "the rabbit hole" and hardly anyone actually does slow down. Many, many accidents in there. I came upon one very shortly after it happened. It was a mini truck that had obviously hit the center rail and ended up upside-down in the right-hand lane. Cars had just started slowing to pass and there was this creepy, slow procession of cars going past and a few people had pulled over but they were all standing 20 feet or so away - the top of the truck was crumpled like paper and about level with the dashboard. An arm was hanging out the passenger window (still attached, just kinda flopped out onto the ground) and as I passed, I saw the hand move. I freaked and pulled my car over... jumped out and started yelling at all the people who were just standing there, staring. My first thoguht was, "what if it's ME in that truck? I'd be scared shitless! Why are all these people just staring?" I went over, knelt down and held the guy's hand and talked to him until the police got there a few minutes later. It's one of the few things that has really stuck with me for a significant time after the event. I wasn't really actively tripped out for a long time, but I do remember just feeling off-center for a couple of weeks.
I saw a carjacking, gun and all, of a mom and baby when I was... I dunno... 8? 9? Right in front of me. I had weird guilt about it for years because I didn't do anything. Yeah, I know that's irrational and I got over it years ago, but that's how it affected me. The guy looked right at me, too. I thought he was gonna come find me.

When I was about 5 years old my dad and I were boating down a river by my house. When we got a little farther down We saw a dead body just floating right on the top. It was all bloated and green. I only saw it for a minute because my dad turned us around to go home and call the police, but that image is still stuck in my head over 13 years later. He had been floating there for 6 days.

I've seen people in different stages of dead and dying as a result of their own hands, or the hands of others. The only thing that makes me weep (so far) is the story of James Bulger...
The idea that two young boys could have the imagination and the perseverance to do to poor James... It doesn't give me good thoughts for our future as a species regardless of the good done daily in the world. There's always more...

In Real Life...
I was witness to a school shooting, saw a guy take a couple of shots to the chest all over a girl. They made a "Dateline" out of it. Things like that can FUCK you up. In fact... it messed up the whole town.

During the summer while at UNI. I worked in a local amusment park, I was driving a motor boat on the lake.
I started the first trip at 08.00 and saw what I though was a pink blanket in the water. I dockewd the boat and then with the attendent rowed a small boat out to get it ( Stop it tangling the props). As we got closer we both freeked, the blanket had a pair of leg under it. She had beem wearing a black skirt so we had not been able to see them from the boat. Called the cops then had to bring her to the lake shore. using a drag while she floated. I will never forget seeing her face and hair as she was pulled out of the water. She was all bloated and puffed up from being in the water and all the collected sh*t and bugs that dribbled out of her hair. Still see her ! a sad old lady who no one could decide on how she died.

Why are we compelled to see such horrible things. After seeing the video where the politician shot himself I can't get it out of my head. I regret ever going to stileproject.com. I didn't clcik the link that said 'kitten stir fry' but I still am horrified by the thought and can't get myself to forget it. I will never look at the video but I will always be curious.

Must have been the summer of 1990. I was eating at a dairy queen looking out the window at the highway. A 18 wheeler had stoped on the side.. well a lady rear ended the thing and went under. The force of the colllision removed the top of the car as well as part of her shoulders, all of her neck, and what remained of her head. She had several children in the car at the time.(all so short they lived) After everyone rushed outside to see, one of the kids was trying to hug his mother back to life or something.. all covered with his own mothers blood and gore.

Reading all these made me realize how sickening and cruel life can be sometimes. I've seen people get shot, car accidents, etc.. etc.. But nothing compares to someone stabbing someone else. It's the most primal and evil thing ever.
I make a point to not visit sites that promote these types of things. I just can't help but think "what if that was somebody I knew that they showed dead, or being hurt". I just think that showing death scenes is disrespectful to their families. |

Most Disturbing Thing You've Seen
Quote:
When I was 18 I was driving that exact same freeway(I-10 to PCH) was on my way home feeling relaxed. It was raining, I wasnt paying enuf attention. when I was about 1/8 of a mile away from the tunnel (there is a curve before it so you cant see whats ahead kinda) I saw stopped cars and I had to hit the brakes. I started fishtailing and immedialtely thought "I'm done, this is it." when I released some of the pressure on the brake pedal and came out of the fishtail although I was still sliding and JUST BARELY avoided slamming into the car in front of me. I must have stopped like 2 feet from the guys bumper and I remember seeing the look on his face, he was so scared I thought he was gonna pop! I have no idea how I stopped in time cuz it didnt seem possible that I could with my rate of speed and the slick road. My adrenaline was rushing for 30 minutes after that, not even getting stoned helped (no I wasnt already stoned). Sorry I had to share that when I read Donkeypuncher's post OK the most disturbing thing I ever saw was a motorcycle accident on Van Nuys BLVD in the San Fernando Valley. There is a large curve at the north end of the road and one night I was on my way home with my buddy and we hit all this traffic which was weird at that time. When we approached the accident it was a guy on a motorcycle who was going so fast he didnt make the turn and hit a power pole. The disturbing thing was that the guy was stuck/wrapped to the damn pole about 3 feet in the air. Just stuck there, body limp(dead) and blood everywhere. It was a total mess. I imagined how it must have felt to be him and what he was thinking right before the impact, and what in the world was holding him there, his ribs or a spike on the pole, I dunno. I still can see it in my mind vividly. Gives me the creeps.

I work in TV news...so I've seen a lot of bad accidents.
1) Corvette vs. Cement mixer. I remember this was about 2 months into the job. I was shooting the shit with one of the cops at the scene. I told him that I heard it was a single fatality on the scanner, so why are there two bags. He looked at me and said, "Well just cause there's one fatal...don't mean he's in one piece." 2) Convertable vs. Alligator Ally. It's a long stretch of hihway between Naples, Fl. and Boca Raton. Anyway some guy flipped his convertable. I remember shooting the scene from a chopper. Long red streak that ended where the car stopped. 3) Chevy Cavalier vs. Greyhound (bus not dog). This one was realllly bad. It was on a two lane highway and someone crossed the center line. I got to the scene and was about 10 feet from the car, and I could smell blood. The car was so badly damaged they left the body in it when they towed it. 4)Boater vs. his boat. Guy lost his balance when his boat hit a wake. He went over and got hit by his own prop. Again one fatality...two bags. That's all I can think of right now, but I'm tired. And all the accidents seem to blend together. -Will |

After reading four pages of these stories I wish I hadn't.... here's mine anyway...
Once in highschool, after prom... my date and I went to one of her friend's house that I didn't know too well. There was a lot of drinking going on and a lot of people there. I saw this guy go into a back room with a girl... after awhile I heard her crying "stop that. you're hurting me. let me go." I was about to go fuck the guy up when they both came back out to the rest of the party... Just then my date wanted to leave, so I told one of my friends that was there to keep an eye on her cause that asshole had been fucking with her... turned out that asshole was her boyfriend and it was a regular thing... not sure why, but that one really bothered me. |

The most disturbing thing I've ever seen - tough to say. I was the victim of an attempted murder about six months ago. I thought I had dealt with it pretty well... a few nights ago I was laying in bed drifting in and out of sleep.
It began as an extremely vivid flashback of the event (I could actually feel the knife entering my body)... but it got worse from there. Almost equally realistic visions came of the other ways the situation could have ended... scary shit. And to you skeptics, this is not a joke. |

i wasnt there to see what im gonna tell you but this absolutelly
true!!!!! summer between 9th-10th grade 1995 im from a town by albany new york called voorheesville. its your average town with alot of good weed .so two of my friends, lets call them jim and dave, stopped along side this road called 85A to smoke a bowl and take a wiz . so they were gettin high when they noticed a plastic bag. so of course being high and curious they decided to check it out. they got some sticks and started prodding and poking the bag. they told me that when the bag broke open, the most foul smell came from whatever was in there. but of course that did not stop them so they got a closer look. at first they could not tell what the hell it was. so they ripped the bag open a little more. what they saw still haunts my friend jim to this day. at first they told me they thought it was a bag of rotten apples but when they saw the entire thing they realized it waz an aborted baby thrown into the woods in aplastic bag!!!! even today when i ask them about it they seems to be really disturbed. i know i know, your thinking i made this up. right? but........ THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A TRUE STORY |

Today I saw the most disturbing thing of my life. I am at the cable company office getting a new remote, and a tattooed up guy walks in. I look at him and notice one of his ears look like it has a giant gash down the middle. Then I see his other ear. It has a one inch hoop stuck in the middle of the lop. I could shoot marbles through it! UGH. I almost barfed.

First non TB post
The (Dwyer) video of the man who calmly passed out awards at a news conference and then reached under the podium and brounght out a manila enveloped that had a 357 magnum in it. Thenews camera was filming from the side, you could hear the audience gasp and someone pleading with him no to do it. He mumbled something about staying back( and I think at this point off camera some one moved towards him) and he placed the gun is his mouth and pulled the trigger. Blood and brain matter splattered all over the wipe board behind him and his body slumped down against the back wall. The camera zoomed in closer and you could see the top portion of his head had exploded and two rivers of blood streaming out of his nose. The camera was in so tight that you could see his eyes as the life force left and then his body slowly collapsed into itself as the last breath he had taken was slowly expelled. I have the WMV file but I've only been able to watch it a few times. It's too horrific. I've seen the Chechnyian soldier getting his throat cut.Amazing how long the knife took to pierce his neck and cut through his larynx. I mistakeningly saw a scat video where a absolutely gorgeous blonde lies on the bathroom floor and a guy dumps an unbelievable amount of excretea on her face. The most disgusting thing I have ever seen.Sick. There was a video taken in Afgahistan of a thief (or a enemy soldier) who was a young boy,and he was laid down against a dirt berm with his hands tied behind his back. One of the villagers stepped up to him and fired several rounds from a AK into his chest. The boy was still alive and was gasping for air. The guy walked back uo to him and loosened of a longer burst causing the rifle barrel to rise and stitched him from the chest to the center of his face. It shattered his lower jaw.He lay there gasping, like a fish out of water, until he died A friend of mine was working near the WTC on 9/11. When the first plane struck they looked out their office window and somehow got the incorrect information that it was a gas pipe explosion. It wasn't until their Dallas office called and told them to turn on CNN that they then saw the second strike. They were instantly terrified and evacuated the building. When they were exiting the building they were told to make their way down to the port to safety. This took them down the street underneath the towers, He told me that there where bright red objects that he could barely make out up the street in front of them. At first he thought that they were traffic cones. As he got closer they realized that they were chunks of bodies littering the pavement. The fires in the tower were burning fiercely and dust and smoke was filling the street. He heard the thuds of bodies hitting the pavement, cars and smashing through windshields. He told me it was impossible not to look up.When he did he saw two people that held hands as they leaped from the window. Riveted and unable to look away he told me that he saw a man stand up in a shattered frame and he gave a kind of half wave and then did an almost perfect swan dive. His company paid for his therapy sessions and to this day he as never talked about it again. There are somethings that you just dont need to see.

I saw the Bud Dwyer suicide happen live on Tv when I was a kid. he was under investigation for some kind of government fraud, was guilty as hell, and held that press conference so he could commit suicide on camera.
I still see images from it in my head at random times. It was the first time I really understood that people could die. I think I was like 8-10 years old a the time. [Edit] It was 1986. I was 13. Here's Some facts. Last edited by erion; 07-25-2003 at 07:53 AM.. |
