I am a confident heterosexual male - but that confidence does not go far enough to allow my being comfortable if I found myself in bed with a lady and another male. I sincerely doubt I could function that close to another guy - nor would I be interested in finding out.

All the cues visual, olfactory and auditory would be skewed towards something completely other than sexual for me. Probably find myself rather upset and angry that "my turf" was being appropriated (I'm not being politically correct here, I know - just as honest as I know how without RL experience in this).

Hope I am on topic - and I am quite sure that any percieved discomfort on my part is not confusion over my interests/inclinations. Guys just don't do it for me.

Aaah, I hope you're right :)

I think a huge part of the trend many people seem to have noticed of women being more likely to be into women is that our society completely sexualizes women. If you want to get all Freudian about it, it's easier for women to continue to fetishize the female (the relationship with the mother) than to transfer that attention to males.

I like humans. We're fun.

That reminds me of Three To Tango where Oliver Plat tells his bosses wife

"Oscar is omnisexual. He swings...every which way." I love that movie.

Asta!!

I'd venture that most women are bisexual to some degree, but our culture tends to encourage them to supress their attraction to other women, or to express it in platonic ways. Women are much more free to compliment others on their physical attractiveness than men, touch their friends in casually affectionate ways, etc. in addition to what Lurkette said about women being sexualized in our society.

Look at popular teen fashions. For girls, it's the micro-slut look; tight midriff baring shirts, spaghetti straps, short skirts, etc. Girl's popular fashion seems to be all about showing skin and sex appeal. Boys teen fashion is baggy clothes two or three sizes too big, a do rag and hat turned sideways, baggy sports Jersey, long shorts, knee socks, pants down around the upper thighs and boxer shorts exposed. Very little skin, and not the least bit sexy.

That said, I think my wife would identify as completely homosexual, a six on that Kinsey scale. She's never had sex with a man, and finds the idea a little repulsive. My sister on the other hand, would be a 0 on that scale, finding the idea of sex with a woman just as repulsive.

There are a lot of women who are naturally bisexual, who later identify as lesbian due to having been abused or raped or otherwise soured on sexual relationships with men due to bad experiences; I'd fall into that category.

I took the Gay-O-Meter test, and it came out

Gilda is 20% Gay

You're such a girlie girl it's a wonder if your lovers even realize you play for the ladies team!

The first part is way, way off (to quote Hayden Fox, I'm pretty sure I'm in the high nineties) but the comment is right on the money.

I love women, but am simultaneously horrible at interacting with them.

akito 06-06-2005 10:20 PM

these poll results don't surprise me at all for some reason, haha.

In any event.. I am a male interested in women now. I used to be bi-curious, but that was a "phase" and have since gotten out of it. That's not to say that I'm not open enough to talking about sexual things with guys or knowing if a guy is handsome or not, I just don't swing that way entirely. :)

That made sense to me at least. :P

I am unpleasantly surprised to see how few women we have here compared to men, or so it seems. Oh, and straight dude here.

Beccarain 06-13-2005 07:46 PM

I like to appreciate the beauty in anyone, male or female. My S/O have historically been guys, yet my fantasies have almost always involved women. Although I have been attracted to a few women, I have never acted on the attraction. Well, almost never . . . I have a friend who gets very flirtatious and loves to touch me when she drinks, and, well, let's just say I don't push her away :icare:

One of my good friends asked me for my "top five list;" he describes the list as the top five famous people I would like to be with. I had to think about it, but my list currently has two guys and three women.

My guy and I have discussed and are open to welcoming another person into our lives . . . wow, until this moment, amonkie was the only other living soul I'd told.

My feeling about sexuality in general . . . love is love, sex is sex, whether it be men with men or women with women or a combination. IMO, one form is no better than another. When love or joy are found, it is no one else's business but the people involved, KWIM?

pan6467 06-13-2005 07:52 PM

I am so homophobic I have issues wiping let alone ever admitting I would like both sexes and not just the female variety.

pan6467 06-13-2005 07:59 PM

By the way the above was a joke.... before anyone pm's me and tells me how I have offended.... it truly is just a joke..... I have a weird sense of humor sue me.

pattycakes 06-13-2005 08:48 PM

nice to see a poll like this and not asking everyone to say if they r gay or straight or bi ( gay means lesbians too ) but the poll makes it anon for ppl who dont want to disclose to say what they feel.

FallenAvatar 06-13-2005 11:44 PM

Women only for me, but different strokes for different folks.

Well you haven't officially met me --But Hi, you've now met one who is absolutely 100 percent strickly dickly.. Women? Pass thanks... and any woman who has ever met me will say that's a good thing...

Women can be pretty to look at, but wanting to be intimate with them is an entirely different story.

However.. I don't get the point in labelling yourself... why does it matter whether you are into men, women, farm animals... you're a person.. and that is what matters.. I honestly have no interest in and really could care less about what a person does in their bedroom.

I've heard that before ;)

burnRedDress 06-14-2005 06:22 PM

Whoa I'm 50% gay apparently (according to that quiz thingy).
I am bi, but I would rate myself as a 2 on the Kinsey scale... which is more like 10% gay.

metalgeek 06-15-2005 10:33 AM

I'd probably also rate myself around a 2 on the Kinsey scale. Ended up being 36% gay on the scale.
