Okay.... I'm a married man. I've not been stood up in a long time.

I was supposed to meet up with a friend. He's not called to confirm he's still coming into the city. My wife was to meet up a friend from DC who is stuck in traffic. So now we have no plans until our 8pm friend's birthday dinner.

So we are trying to figure out what do until then. But it made me think...just what do you do when you are stood up?

It usually depends on what kind of mood I'm in.

If in a good mood, I'll just call up someone else to see what they are up to. Or just turn on the old tube and see if anything decent is on.

If in a not so good mood, usually drinking is always the option. Not to the point of stupidity, but a few. Of course, playing some Vice City on the PS2 is usually a good stress reliever over such sutuations.

Or if all else fails, I'll just spend some quality time with my girl in the bedroom. This one never fails!

Well, I don't recall ever being stood up. But if it were to happen I would imagine odds are good I would be on the phone calling up others that may want to go out.
If I were the second half of a couple, I would take the opportunity to spend some quality time together... (wink, wink)

Never been stood up date-wise, but if someone were to pull a no-show with no effort to communicate that, they have a big black mark in my book and unless they have a damn good reason why, they get one more strike - if they pull anything again similarly disrespectful to me/not showing common courtesy, I disassociate from them completely.

Its never happened to me, but I did it to someone that was nothing but kind to me. I did it for another female. When I talked to the person I stood up she began crying and telling me that she hoped the best for me and such things. I felt like a complete asshole. That telephone call still haunts me form time to time. I will never do that again.

I was stood up once... well... not quite stood up but fucked over maybe... New Years Eve 2002... I was seeing this girl. She told me to come to her house and we would watch the ball drop and "celebrate" the arrival of the New Year..... Well.... I got to her house and no one was home... and she never called me back again.... to this day I don't know what happened... I know she is alive but other than that no idea...

EDIT: oh yeah... what did I do afterwards? found my friends and drank the night... and next day away
