Horror Flick Overall - Day of the Dead
Horror Character - Jason Voorhees Horror Scene - Tie between Freddy VS Jason final fight & Dawn of the Dead remake first ten minutes. Both scenes put a huge smile on my face. Horror film special effect - I can't pick just one, but I guess also Day of the Dead. Exorist would come in second. I'm sure I will change my mind on these, but I just watched several Jason movies recently and its the first thing that pops into my head. Last edited by Rdr4evr; 10-28-2004 at 02:23 PM.. |

Don't watch them that much. Mrs Mephisto gets nightmares if I make scary faces at her.
The one that I remember most was the original Salem's Lot mini-series. Best Overall: Salem's Lot Best Character: The vampire's familiar. (Can't remember his name) Best Actor: David Soul :-) Best Actress: No idea. Neve Campbell looked good in the Scream trailers I saw. Best Scene: The kid vampire floating outside the window scraping at the glass Best effect: At the time, the scene were the main character changes into a werewolf in the original "An American Werewolf in London" film. Kinda dated now I guess. Mr Mephisto |

Here is the order of the series: Night of the Living Dead 1968 (Director: George Romero) Dawn of the Dead 1978 (Romero) Day of the Dead 1985 (Romero) Night of the Living Dead Remake 1990 (Tom Savini) Dawn of the Dead Remake 2004 (Zack Snyder) Romero is currently making LAND OF THE DEAD though!!! The fourth installment in the Dead series, I can't wait!! It would be nice to see a GOOD zombie flick that Hollywood doesn't fuck up. (I.e Resident Evil 1, 2, House of the Dead. UGH) We don't need garbage like that. |

Best movie: The Omen - hands down. movie scared the crap outta me
Character: Jack Torrence or Micheal Myers Actor: Yeah, probably Jack Nicholson Actress: Sissy Spacek did a good job . . . Scene: The Tricycle scene in The Omen Special Effect: gotta agree with Supple Cow; the spider walk down the stairs in The Exorcist was well done and plenty freaky. Just my $.02 |

Hmmm think you need to add a category
"Best horror flick to watch with friends for a good laugh" My vote there would be Killer Clowns From Outer Space Best Movie: The Shining Best Special Effect: The Cell - much eye candy here or perhaps 13 Ghosts |

Horror Flick overall: I'll have to organize my thoughts on that one. I was too young to remember if the classics ever scared me. I know The Shining didn't and neither did Exorcist or The Omen.
Horror Character: Pumpkin fuckin head!! I also hold a soft spot for the demon who possesed Alyda in The Unnamable 1 & 2 and Radu of Subspecies (because he looks like Morbius) Horror Actor: Hellraiser guy Horror Actress: Sissy Spacek Horror Scene: When Pumpkinhead presses the dying girls face up against the window until it breaks through and she dies. Horror film special effect: Werewolf transformations. I like too many of them to name one. Van Helsings may very well be the worst ones though. Asta!!

Horror Flick overall - Exorcist. Disturbed me
Horror Character - Michael Myers - an archetype Horror Actor - no clue Horror Actress - no clue Horror Scene - The Ring (Japanese version)... when the dead girl crawls out of the TV screen... if it was a Hollywood horror they would have had the fist bursting out of the screen to make the viewer jump... but the way the creature dragged itself like a dead thing out of the screen and into the world, made it seem more like the abomination it ws supposed to be... and scarier Horror film special effect - one above

Strange Famous - I only saw the American version of The Ring, and she crawled out pretty dang slowly. Was the scariest movie I ever saw recently anyway. Funny thing, when I was a kid Levar Burton in that one Star Trek episode where he turned into a glowing blue monster gave me nightmares.

i have to say scariest movies are blair witch (you have to watch it at night though....pitch black with an awesome surround sound) or texas chainsaw massacre (remake)
...that scene in the tent in blair witch where it starts flapping wildly scared the hair right off my body! TCM is good for gore. Michael Myers has to be the scariest villan. Jessica biel in TCM is nails! (you can be grossed out and aroused at the same time!) |

overall: I think the first Halloween was a pretty amazing movie
character: spiders in arachnophobia, but that is my own issue As for the other questions, I can't really say that I've seen enough horror films to really know. Oh! I do have a favorite scene! scene: the end of the japanese film Audition where the quiet girl goes nuts slowly pushing needles into the old mans eyes and cutting off his feet. eek. |

You kids... nothing earlier than Night of the Living Dead
My pick: A tie: The Haunting (1963) -- scared the crap out of me without a drop of blood. And, Curse of the Demon -- the same. Favorite Character: Professor Quatermass Favorite Actor: Vincent Price Favorite Actress: Oh I dunno -- Adrienne Barbeau, just because I grew up in the '70s? Favorite Scene: Nightclub vampire fight scene in "From Dusk 'til Dawn." Favorite Special Effect: if the story's set up well, even mediocre effects are good enough. |
