Confusion for Identification

----------------------- I'm still trying to understand just what this means. IMO it's about trying to make money off of the people that could not before i.e. insurance.

I'd hate to see this type of thing implemented across different states. I think that it will just cause confusion for people from bartenders to police officers, and frustration for those who hold them and get no added benefit.

I like the fact that they are trying to address the needs for a "certificate of driving" and a personal ID card. Not quite sure how I feel about how they are going about it though.

It's a bad idea. For one thing, how would you respond to a police officer's question of "license and registration?" The card would be used to identify the driver, but it's not a form of ID?

Isn't it contradictory to allow someone to legally act illegally?

Why not print "not U.S. citizen" or "alien" on the driver's license instead?

As for the topic at hand, I honestly hadn't heard about it yet, and I must say that it quite interests me. As others have said, I think it's a good idea to pursue, but our chosen method of pursuit does leave something to be desired.

i for one don't really agree much to having a 'certificate of driving'.
i live too close to the mexican border. i'm all for honest, hard-working individuals needing to get around for work. my hats off to them. but about 12 years ago, my father was hit by a moving car. the lady at the wheel was mexican and my father was on foot. when we tried to sue her for medical charges, her family said she died. we later found that she hadn't died, but that she skipped the border and opted to stay in mexico. the certificate poses the threat of others following suit. if people are able to get into car wrecks and skip the border, why am i legally bound to buy auto insurance?

Why are we even bothering to issue any kind of drivers licenses at all to anyone that's here illegally? This is just another fine example of how screwed up this politically correct crap has become.

i don't understand how this is suppose to control illegal immigrants driving illiegally. if you are an illegal, you probably aren't going to go to the DMV and apply for a licence, so all this would seem to do is insult those who are here on a student or work visa.
