July 5th
Since the fourth of July falls on a Sunday this year, we have the 5th of July off, paid for and everything.
I had never heard of this before; at previous jobs we just didn't get any time off if the holiday fell on a weekend. I was just curious to see if anyone else had the 5th off this year. |

Every job I've ever had if the holiday fell on Saturday we got friday off...if it fell on Sunday we got Monday off.
This year is great for me, since we get our birthday off as well I get both Friday AND Monday off!!!!

depends on the company but since I've been working for a corporate company, it's always been that way, holiday falls on a weekend.. you get the day before or after depending on what day the holiday falls on.
only works for those days like Xmas, New Years, and July 4th.... the rest of the holidays are pretty standard 3 day weekends on monday.

Well, I get Monday off from my summer class, but the place I work is BUSIEST on holidays, so I get to pull an 8 and a half hour shift Monday. Whoopee. At least I'll be able to make up some of the hours I had off to go camping.

In retail....we pay the holiday, but close for the fourth. I give my staff the option of an extra day off, or more money.

I had the 5th off, and then the money grubbing bastards realized what they'd done and now I have to work.

Well, I'd been hoping that I would get the 5th off, but I'm pretty well certain that I don't. Just gonna be a regular weekend for me. So I can't really get wasted on the 4th, which makes me sad in pants.
Oh well.

We get Monday off where I work, but we get it without pay. It is kinda nice to have a day off for a holiday for a change. My last job I worked Christmas day, newyears, and Easter Sunday (security Guard) and going into Law Enforcement, I will not have many holidays off in the future.

We get the 5th off (paid) and since I am such an ass, I also took off the 1st and 2nd.

Another educator here, so all summer off; so we set our wedding day for the 5th. It is amazing how many people can't make it because they have to work.

I am working the 4th and it counts as a Sunday, but the guy who has the 5th is getting credit for working a holiday. The really screwy thing is, I am the one who came up with that.

Hearing all you people getting the weekend off... GRRR!
I work Thurs/Friday 7 hour days, then Sat/Sun/Mon 8 and a half hour days due to the holiday... and no overtime because because I work 35 hours a week normally and not 40

I am OFF Monday and it's always been like that. Every holiday that can fall on a weekend means you get either the Friday or Monday off. Holidays like Easter that always are on the weekend don't count.

Most workers who have a contract (like myself) are paid for certain holidays throughout the year. If a holiday falls on a weekend you get Friday or Monday off as has bee said already. The bummer is when they fall on a Tuesday or Thursday. In order to take an extended weekend, you have to use holiday time.
I usually like coming in on the Friday after Thnaksgiving though, there's generally no one here and I can actually get some work done.
