as far as I'm concerned there's still SMALL, MEDIUM, and LARGE (SML) as far as cup sizes go.
You can call them MEDIUM, LARGE, and SUPER SIZE, but well, they still are SML

This always bothered me when asking for a medium soda; "sorry, we only have Large, extra large and super-size" "Well then minimum-wage-counter-jockey, bring me the one in the middle..." Great jumping jeebus...

I sometimes go to a place and order a 'small' drink.. and they give me (and charg me for) what other places would call a medium.

or they go "this size?" and hold up the cup, and you automatically assume it's the size you asked for. Then your look at the receipt and see that it's the next one up.... I only got suckered on that one twice.

I think that I have been exposed to WAAAAY too much marketing... but the reason that they start with medium is that the "children's size" is what they might consider to be small. This is the only logical reasoning that i could come up with so that my brain didn't exploded when I first started seeing that there is no such thing as a "small" size. Then again there should also be some truth in advertising... the sizes should be "1- sip", "1-gulp", "average size cup", "a cup with some extra to go" and then for supersize it should be "bladder buster" then again i'm sure taht someone could come up with much better terms then these... (or I should start taking some medication... :P ) |

Even small, medium and large are ambiguous though. I'd prefer it they listed the actual quantity/volume instead
How much is in a Large anyway? No one knows It's good that McDonalds gives the cup size an actual quantity! But you shouldn't be at McDonalds anyway catch 22 good clip though. I've seen some other rants by that squirrel guy and they're quite entertaining and true Last edited by Sleepyjack; 02-18-2004 at 09:01 PM.. |

The first time I went to Starbucks, I thought a "tall" latte would suffice...I can't believe I paid 4 bucks for that little thing

This phenomena aggrevates me so much. When you order a large, expecting to get the biggest size only to find out that it's the middle size?!!?! WTF? The only time extra large, or super fucking gigantic is an ok size is if it's the 4th size, following s,m,l. Sorry, for some reason i'm overly sensitive to this matter.... i must be crazy.

Yes, I'd like to be able to go into a place and order a large drink, and then actually get a large drink. If I order a large coke and I get what in my terminology is a medium, I'm not going to bother buying drinks there again.

Burger King out here is confusing. I get a kids meal for my son and now they ask you if you want a big kids meal or a regular one. The drinks they have for it are kiddie size or the regular adult small. Then for the regular drinks they have small, medium, large, and extra large.
Would be a lot easier if you could walk into a store and order a medium coffee or a pop and know exactically what size you were getting because all stores would use the same small medium and large coffee cups and pop cups.
