A couple of months shy of 2 years for me and my wife, but we were for the most part married for almost 4 years before that.
Actually, everyone told me that even though we were for all practical purposes married before, when we had the ceremony everything would change. They were wrong, nothing really changed at all. Anyone else have this experience, or did everything change when you were married? |

Same here, Stilts. We've been married 2 1/2 years, but were dating exclusively for more than 5 years. The only thing that really changed was that we could finally sleep in the same bedroom when we visited my parents! Still the best thing I ever did. |

It'll be 18 yrs in July to my 'keeper'. Damn I'm feeling old.
2.5 yrs. to my first wife. If a woman ever tells you that they will 'change' after they get married start thinking really hard about why they don't 'change' before they get married. My first wife was not very interested in sex. When we were dating she explained that she was nervous about sex because she was still living at home with her folks and it just didn't seem 'right' to her without being married. She said she was sure that things would be different and better after we were married. BIG mistake. We never were compatible sexually due to her lack of interest in the subject. Glad we called it quits before we had kids. Man, I was miserable (and horney).

I've been married 2 years since last March, but we have been together 8 years. Even though we were together long before we were married, the wedding was a significant life experience. Not much changed, I guess, but I did feel a little more grounded after the wedding.
