A couple of months shy of 2 years for me and my wife, but we were for the most part married for almost 4 years before that.

Actually, everyone told me that even though we were for all practical purposes married before, when we had the ceremony everything would change. They were wrong, nothing really changed at all. Anyone else have this experience, or did everything change when you were married?

bbb 05-01-2003 03:12 PM

Same here, Stilts. We've been married 2 1/2 years, but were dating exclusively for more than 5 years. The only thing that really changed was that we could finally sleep in the same bedroom when we visited my parents!

Still the best thing I ever did.

I'll second that.

Double D 05-04-2003 02:40 PM

Nine years on May 20, but had a child together two years previous. The _only_ reason I married was to legitimize my son's birth, i.e. so he wouldn't be a little bastard anymore.
My husband is a terrific guy, but I make a lousy wife.

monty121052 05-04-2003 02:58 PM

20th on Sep 26th(Watched Allen Bond win the Americas cup from the Sheraton hotel in Perth,Western Australia)

riskybiz 05-04-2003 04:28 PM

It'll be 18 yrs in July to my 'keeper'. Damn I'm feeling old.

2.5 yrs. to my first wife. If a woman ever tells you that they will 'change' after they get married start thinking really hard about why they don't 'change' before they get married. My first wife was not very interested in sex. When we were dating she explained that she was nervous about sex because she was still living at home with her folks and it just didn't seem 'right' to her without being married. She said she was sure that things would be different and better after we were married. BIG mistake. We never were compatible sexually due to her lack of interest in the subject. Glad we called it quits before we had kids. Man, I was miserable (and horney).

raeanna74 05-04-2003 04:47 PM

4 years this past April.

deportes 05-10-2003 07:21 AM

21 coming up, best decision ever.

afraidofninjas 05-10-2003 04:18 PM

It'll be nine months next weekend... Also, best decision ever. When I get ahold of something that good, I hold on for all I'm worth

Sticky 05-10-2003 05:41 PM

5.5 years

spooky1 05-10-2003 07:56 PM

It will be 15 wonderful years in October.

sapiens 05-10-2003 08:04 PM

I've been married 2 years since last March, but we have been together 8 years. Even though we were together long before we were married, the wedding was a significant life experience. Not much changed, I guess, but I did feel a little more grounded after the wedding.

MikeyChalupa 05-10-2003 10:02 PM

Second time around. 2 years June 8th.

First time (the dark time) was for just under 2 years.

paddyjoe 05-11-2003 12:20 PM

It'll be 23 years on June 21st. Time sure flies when you're having fun!
