both ben and jlo, and the whole reality tv show bit (I hope this fad ends soon, but I know it's not going to; too easy and cheap to produce, and people still watch them!!!).
For me personally, what sucked... Not having enough money to feed myself properly for half the year, and then not even having enough money to visit my family in Hawaii, and now they're moving back to the mainland. But, that problem looks like it's going to really improve this next year!!! |

The endless 'While you were out' and 'Trading spaces' marathons on The Learning Channel.
TNN rebranding itself to Spike TV. I didn't watch it very much to begin with, only the odd episode of TNG or Car & Driver, but it's still annoying. Media monopolies telling me what I can and can't do with the music I purchase legally. And the damn Maple Leafs loosing to Islanders, bringing to an end their 16 game point streak (tied for first in the NHL). They played like sheeeit.

- The thing that really comes to mind is the whole lawsuit-happy RIAA fiasco. It would have been happier year for me as a consumer, if I did not feel the kind of anger at the industry I feel now. After years of being an honest patron, I'm now a boycotter.
Aaaand the whining, bed-wetting hordes of democrats and republicans, both throwing their little dolls and pacifiers at each other in another temper tantrum over Dubya. We need to start electing babysitters and nannys to office before someone gets peed on.

The near-zero intelligence quotient of national politics, followed by the plummeting integrity of the national press, which seems to be breaking about every rule of responsible journalism that the old j-school profs tried to bang into my head 'lo these many years ago.

Politics crushes everything every year for this award. The panasonic "va va voom" commercial is a close 2nd though.

In terms of sheer raw annoyance, Paris Hilton tops my list too. J-lo is a close second.
I'm not annoyed with BushChenyBurton, Inc. and its War on Whoever Has Oil. Apalled, horrified, and disgusted, but not annoyed. (Sorry. That's is why my post count in Tilted Politics is zero.) |

The most irritating thing to me is just peoples' general stuipidity. That doesn't hold for just this year... but all the time in general. Though I will say people are a lot more rude on Christmas Eve... and that holds true for this Christmas Eve of 03.
I suppose the one thing this year that I absolutely hated and found irritating besides peoples' general stupidity is the media. The media on various stories this year was just crap because they NEVER give people the whole story of situations but want to just "feed the masses"... so that's my beef for 2003.

Just about everything to do with TV, politics and government as usual sucked ass.
Any type of makeover show, whether it be the body, the house, the car, whatever. Once in a while is okay, entire weekends devoted to it? Nope, don't think so. I'm tired of "Survivor" type reality shows. It ain't survivor if no one dies, damn it! TV "news" (and I quote that very lightly) that has more style/entertainment value than substance. Deaths of soldiers, chidren and civilians for nothing more than the belief that "Your God" is better than "My God" Anything to do with celebrities (except for their deaths and I don't mean that in a dickwad way either. It's a tragedy when anyone dies. To see folks I grew up with on TV, on radio or at the movies die is a major bummer)
