Most annoying things of 2003

So it looks like 2003's on the wane... another year over. Probably the most irritating thing for me was Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez with their whole wedding and all that. You?

Snakebyt 12-28-2003 09:19 AM

Reality shows taking over the networks

kurty[B] 12-28-2003 10:02 AM

both ben and jlo, and the whole reality tv show bit (I hope this fad ends soon, but I know it's not going to; too easy and cheap to produce, and people still watch them!!!).

For me personally, what sucked... Not having enough money to feed myself properly for half the year, and then not even having enough money to visit my family in Hawaii, and now they're moving back to the mainland. But, that problem looks like it's going to really improve this next year!!!

Kadath 12-28-2003 10:28 AM

I'd have to say the most irritating thing was the war, although mad cow disease is coming in as a last moment candidate.

streak_56 12-28-2003 10:29 AM

For me it was starting college

tinfoil 12-28-2003 10:36 AM

The endless 'While you were out' and 'Trading spaces' marathons on The Learning Channel.

TNN rebranding itself to Spike TV. I didn't watch it very much to begin with, only the odd episode of TNG or Car & Driver, but it's still annoying.

Media monopolies telling me what I can and can't do with the music I purchase legally.

And the damn Maple Leafs loosing to Islanders, bringing to an end their 16 game point streak (tied for first in the NHL). They played like sheeeit.

feelgood 12-28-2003 10:59 AM

My brother and the Paris Hilton sex video tape...

SysteMatiC 12-28-2003 11:14 AM

I gotta go with paris hilton as well.

mrquackers 12-28-2003 01:05 PM

Waking up every day to wonder if they're going to raise the terror alert level...

Nefir 12-28-2003 01:33 PM

- The thing that really comes to mind is the whole lawsuit-happy RIAA fiasco. It would have been happier year for me as a consumer, if I did not feel the kind of anger at the industry I feel now. After years of being an honest patron, I'm now a boycotter.

Aaaand the whining, bed-wetting hordes of democrats and republicans, both throwing their little dolls and pacifiers at each other in another temper tantrum over Dubya. We need to start electing babysitters and nannys to office before someone gets peed on.

omega2K4 12-28-2003 02:07 PM

1.) "War on Terrorism"
2.) "Reality" TV
3.) George W. Bush
4.) Sucktastic Matrix Movies
5.) MTV

Boo 12-28-2003 02:07 PM

Lying, worthless politicians with no fresh ideas or leadership abilities.

World's King 12-28-2003 02:22 PM

I had a rash back in March...

that was pretty annoying

I agree with this totally.. they should move this to Gameshow Network or something.

Michael Moore also tops my list of asshat things of 2003.

rogue49 12-28-2003 03:47 PM

That service sucks now,
and everything is fee'd to death.

I'm sure this trend will continue into next year.

ToiletDuck 12-28-2003 03:56 PM

Fox news and thier overuse of the "WMD" acronym

Rodney 12-28-2003 03:59 PM

The near-zero intelligence quotient of national politics, followed by the plummeting integrity of the national press, which seems to be breaking about every rule of responsible journalism that the old j-school profs tried to bang into my head 'lo these many years ago.

Phaenx 12-28-2003 04:02 PM

Politics crushes everything every year for this award. The panasonic "va va voom" commercial is a close 2nd though.

eburitto 12-28-2003 04:21 PM

I hate that va va voom commercial too

ratbastid 12-28-2003 04:26 PM

In terms of sheer raw annoyance, Paris Hilton tops my list too. J-lo is a close second.

I'm not annoyed with BushChenyBurton, Inc. and its War on Whoever Has Oil. Apalled, horrified, and disgusted, but not annoyed.

(Sorry. That's is why my post count in Tilted Politics is zero.)

water_boy1999 12-28-2003 04:27 PM

Gray Davis vs. Arnold Schwarzaneger

Outlander36 12-28-2003 06:07 PM

I heard something about one of those 2 practically every fucking day!

OFKU0 12-28-2003 08:36 PM

Everything yet nothing at all.

EbolaVirus 12-28-2003 09:42 PM

Constantly hearing about the extremely overrated Jennifer Lopez annoyed me the most

Wax_off 12-28-2003 11:22 PM

Having Ahnold as governor.
And the Bush administration strong arm/underhanded tactics and propaganda.

absorbentishe 12-29-2003 06:29 AM

Too many to start naming...

Okay, maybe Steve Bartman, and I'm not a big Cubs fan.

Monre 12-29-2003 07:38 AM

All the above.

Harshaw 12-29-2003 08:29 AM

Reality shows, Michael Jackson, Ryan Seacrest

BlueBongo 12-29-2003 09:01 AM

The most irritating thing to me is just peoples' general stuipidity. That doesn't hold for just this year... but all the time in general. Though I will say people are a lot more rude on Christmas Eve... and that holds true for this Christmas Eve of 03.

I suppose the one thing this year that I absolutely hated and found irritating besides peoples' general stupidity is the media. The media on various stories this year was just crap because they NEVER give people the whole story of situations but want to just "feed the masses"... so that's my beef for 2003.

Tops my list.
That and the large Mutual Fund companies allowing market timing and other ways of ripping off their regular customers.

Dano069 12-29-2003 02:45 PM

Just about everything to do with TV, politics and government as usual sucked ass.

Any type of makeover show, whether it be the body, the house, the car, whatever. Once in a while is okay, entire weekends devoted to it? Nope, don't think so.

I'm tired of "Survivor" type reality shows. It ain't survivor if no one dies, damn it!

TV "news" (and I quote that very lightly) that has more style/entertainment value than substance.

Deaths of soldiers, chidren and civilians for nothing more than the belief that "Your God" is better than "My God"

Anything to do with celebrities (except for their deaths and I don't mean that in a dickwad way either. It's a tragedy when anyone dies. To see folks I grew up with on TV, on radio or at the movies die is a major bummer)

spived2 12-30-2003 09:23 AM

J lo and Ben, Mad Cow, Jessica lynch story, paris hilton, recall election, Jackson, Jackson, Jackson, the bachelor's wedding thing, and numerous other things that make me want to stab someone with my butter knife.

That show isn't much worse then "a wedding story." That was my girlies favorite show, it made me want to repeatedly bang my forehead into the table.

turnbot 12-30-2003 12:43 PM
