Trying out weed.
I've been offered an opportunity to try out some weed. Now, I'm 26 and I've never tried it before, or seen it, or smelled it, nor have I ever known anyone (non-American) who has smoked it. So I have mixed feelings about it. I don't smoke and rarely drink, but I am curious.
What would YOU do?

I don't see the problem with NOT trying it out.
Prince, why exactly are you wanting to try it anyway. Is it just out of curiousity or what?

I am not gonna say try it or not to try it...But just make sure you are staying wherever you smoke it...If you do decide to try it that is.
Weed makes alot of people paranoid..it could take that effect on you or maybe it won't...But if you are in a house with people you feel comfortable with..Then it won't be that bad. Weed makes me paranoid..I only smoke when me & my friends are just gonna chill for the night. I have gone to the club and smoked before, But it feels like the whole club is watching me...Meanwhile everybody in the club is puffin a spliff. If it's your first time trying it..You are probably going to giggle the whole night away...the first time i smoked I laughed the whole night and it actually started to hurt my stomach cause i couldn't stop laughing...But it was still a good night. Anyways....be safe. Last edited by IC3; 08-30-2003 at 04:07 PM.. |

Yeah, make sure your with people you know and trust. The few times I've been offered to try it, I was with people I knew but wouldn't trust much, so I declined. Also make sure it's not just from some random person off the street either, never know what could be in it...

Just think about down the line. Do you have a job that drug tests you, are you going to get a job soon that may drug test you? Being that it is going to be your first time it should be out of your system in about 2 weeks.

here is what i would suggest before trying any drug.. research the effects of the drug - you may not personally like the effect of being high.. research the side effects of the drug.. research any long term effects or serious problems you could run into doing the drug.. make sure you are willing to deal with the fact that it is a drug and you are using it. Smoke with someone you trust and know pretty well... it can be a good experience.. just know what you are getting into first!

to me, weed is better than drinking....
it doesnt fuck you up as bad, and you get no hangover....first time trying it, you'll be addicted though... if you fight the small addiction from the first time, you wont HAVE to have it again...you wont have any withdrawl symptoms for more than 24 hours...so it goes away rather quickly..only if you've tried it once...more than once, the addiction grows stronger.. but man, when me and my friends are high...we pass around 4 fatties for every 2 people in.....its so fun... Its not as harmful either...they say smoking one joint is like smoking 4 cigarettes... well..lets see, if you're a smoker, chances are you prolly smoke appx. one pack or more per day... hmm....lets think about that....1-2joints=4-8 cigarettes, or 24+ cigarettes...now which is worse... Im all for it man...but dont be depressed or anything when you get high, i heard people become angry or something...never witnessed anything bad from weed....alcohol is a different story of course.... But both are fun... |

I personally consider marijuana a vast waste of time. But I don't think the most fervent anti-drug zealot would tell you that one try would hurt you. He _might_ try to tell you that then you'd want more and more and embark on the road to hell, etc.... but weed doesn't really work that way. If you're curious, try it. Since you have neither a smoking nor drinking habit already, I really doubt that you're going to acquire a marijuana habit.

Just try it, there really is no reason not to. Its much safer than alcohol. You just feel really relaxed after you smoke its an excellent feeling that you get with nothing else. Just have some junk food around and something really cold to drink after you smoke. At least for me I used to get real bad cottonmouth after I did it and needed something to drink. Also remember to suck it all the way down, dont smoke weed like you would a cigar.. you want it down in your lungs and hold it there for a second and you will definitly get high. I made that mistake the first 2 tiems i smoked and was like wtf it didnt do shit and once I started doing that i was like omfg this is the best thing evar! ( i was in 10th grade, lol). Anyway it's really a phase that (at least everyone i know) goes through in highschool and then it just kind of ends. I havent smoked since 11th grade and havent had the need to, just doesnt appeal to me as much as it used to. But definitly just try it... no harm it in at all..

i would recommend trying it. you may end up liking it, but smoke it in moderation the first time. take a few tokes and see how you feel. its all about building a tolerance, and you dont have one yet :P
good luck and have fun

As for my experiences, I smoked probably once or twice a week for a year and quit cold turkey as soon as I got back home. I had no problem quitting, and no regrets about smoking or not smoking. Again, its your choice.

Well..
I am 26 as well and like you have never tried it. In my own personal opinion.. don't bother trying it. You have gone this far without it.... no need to break now. I have grown up around it and want no part of it. (personal opinion) |

hey Prince;
Women not girls rule my world I said they rule my world Act your age, mama (Not your shoe size) Not your shoe size Maybe we could do the twirl you don't have to watch Dynasty to have an attitude you just leave it all up to me My love will be your food Yeah You don't have to be rich to be my girl you don't have to be cool to rule my world Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with I just want your extra time and your Kiss my advice... its totally up to you. if you like the people, and the scene... then i can´t see why not, go forth and experience all that life offers! but (and it sounds like this is the case) if you have your doubts, then don´t. its easy... but then you should also consider what your namesake (TAFKAP) would do... i believe he´d take the toke and love it.

Psychologically addicted, yes, this is possible...however, it takes a long time of habitual use (or a very addictive personality) to become addicted in this way. My suggestion to you is to do some research...take a look at www.erowid.com under marajuana...weigh the pros and cons and your motivation for wanting to try it...then make an informed choice. At the end of the day, if you do try it, you will probably find that it is a new experience and it might open your mind a bit...then again, you might not like how it makes you feel and you might decide never to do it again.

Bah...pot's no big deal. If you give it a try and don't like it, don't try it again. If you like it and want to keep smoking it, make sure you are a responsible smoker and smoke it only when appropriate. If/when you get a job that has silly drug testing, then it may be time to stop (until you get into management)

Becoming addicted to Marijuana is something that will take a long time...Don't listen to everybody saying after you smoke one spliff your hooked..
If you like it...Fine, Keep at as a weekend thing...Only smoking on the weekends or everyother weekends will not get you addicted to it. The high is definatly an expierence, It relax's you..Enhances your mind...makes you think of everything from a different perspective...But again, it's your choice...There is no harm in trying it or when you are under the influence of it, Just be around people you know & trust and everything will be good....Or if you decide not to try it..Then that's fine too...I'm just trying to give you a perspective about it. |

It affects everyone differently. I didn't try it until I was 28. I loved it. Have a blast everytime I smoke. I don't do it on a regular basis though. I did smoke a month ago while in Amsterdam with my husband. But now that I'm home, I haven't thought twice about. If the opportunity comes for me to smoke again, I definitely will. But I'm fine without it as well. It's not something I have to have. Try it, have fun. You'll know if you like it or not when you do.
