Concert Ticket Prices
Let me tell you some of the top prices being asked for concerts that are coming to my area this summer:
Eagles.......................$125.00 Fleetwood Mac..........$128.00 Aerosmith & Kiss............................$128.00 Cher...........................$80.00 But on a much more sane note, George Thorogood & the Destoyers are playing at a local festival for EIGHT DOLLARS!!!! Granted, there are tickets available to these shows for a measly 50 bucks or so, but tell me, where would you draw the line on paying these prices? Is any concert worth it to you to pay possibly $250.00 dollars for you and your date BEFORE parking and food and drinks? So, Rock On! |

The only concert I'd pay $250 for is if John Lennon and George Harrison were resurrected and the Beatles got back together and toured.
I can't think of anyone else I'd pay that much for.

I paid $165 for Clapton two summers ago and $125 for Dylan/Paul Simon a few summers ago. Not too many other acts would be worth it to me. Maybe if Pink Floyd got back together (not likely) I'd pay a lot to see them. Or maybe if Cat Stevens got his head out of his ass....

I've payed that much and alot more. And I'll probably continue to. Concerts, all day music festivals, or any old live music is a very large part of my off time. I'll agree the prices are getting pretty high, but its not concert specific.
-Sidenote- With all of the music stealing/sharing that is going on, I'm not surprised nor bothered by these prices either. What is lost from one source is made up for in another.

i paid $75 to see NIN in a small club in portland oregon back in the early ninties, I think the face value on ticket was $15. Thats the most I have ever paid for a ticket. 2 tickets to sit in the grass for Jimmy buffet in Nashville was $80.
Luckilly here in nashville we have a few annual events that get good names for little or no money. River stages ( http://www.nashvilleriverstages.com/2003/ ) is a 3 day festival with groups ranging from everclear, John Mayer, steve winwood with prices at $4o for a 3 day pass. They put on a show called dancin in the district every thursday on the waterfront with various groups from different genres. Last year ended with blues traveller. I heck of a deal for a free event. This year they are actually charging an admission buy its only $3 ( http://www.dancininthedistrict.com/ditd_main.phtml ) Of course there more country than you can stand in the clubs here, unfortunatly thats my least fav type of music. |

i paid $A150 for a stones ticket when they were in Sydney.
some people paid around $A1500 for good tix though. David Gray tix sold for $A75, but they sold out in about 30mins here, so they are now double the price on ebay.

Thank god that I know people in the entertainment business... I can sometimes get tickets to concerts, broadway shows, for free or cheap.
Yes, sometimes I have to pay for them, wife knows the head puppeteer for the new Broadway show Avenue Q. It's damned funny... and we paid US$55 for it... as for paying for concerts, when I was a kid I wouldn't pay more than US$25 for a band and I had to REALLY love them. Over time, I've gone to some shows for about twice that amount even if I don't know them or care, but want to just go to a good gig. I've been able to see some good shows and bands just on the off chance... somehow I saw Mighty Mighty Bosstones like 4 times in one year. But it does get ridiculous... I forgot how much the one night of King Of Pop Micheal Jackson cost... that was just rediculous.
