Million $$$$ Question
If you found a bag with a million dollars what would u do with it? Would u be a good samaritan and turn it in to the police or would u be greedy and keep it? I'll tell u what I would do first of all I would fly to Columbia and start my own Mafia there and grow and then we will be all over the world. I have always been fascinated with the Mob scene so thats what I would do. Just for fun im recruiting thugs, druggies, killers, snipers whatever u are all welcome I just wanna see how many people I can recruit so if you want in all u gotta do is reply to this message and say I Want In and type the Gangsta name you want and thats all Welcome to the Family. By the way im "EL Jefe"

Wow, I'd have to think long and hard about whether to keep it or not................................
............................ .................... OK! I'd keep it! Biggest problem would be how to bank it and/or use it without getting in trouble with IRS. Otherwise, You'd have to bury it in the back yard and just use $100 at a time for little things, or a few thousand at a time for small purchases. I would really want to buy a big boat and bank the rest for interest and kid's college, but how could you do that without making the IRS wonder. |

Vatoloco, I take it you mean Colombia, in South America?

I would be extremely nervous about "finding" a million dollars. I really don't know what I would do.
As far as the moral question goes, I'd probably take it. Presumably, someone didn't save up a million dollars and accidentally drop it. Not that taking it would be justified.

I'd take it for sure. What are the chances of you stumbling across a million dollars twice? And take it and run, just like Charlie and the Golden Ticket.

Yeah, to expand on my original point a bit. I can't imagine any situation where finding a million dollars and taking it could be considered a good idea. Downright dangerous would be more accurate. Moving to another country to hide out doesn't seem worth it to me.
But it's a hypothetical question. If the million dollars were just magically there, yes, I'd take it.

I'd say take 30 thou for my bills..."as a finder's fee".
And turn the rest in. Shit, if I could pay for all my shit at one time, then I'd be great shape...in hog heaven. I've got a good job, why do I need anything else? Everything else would take care of itself. |

No doubt drug money. I'd be seriously worried about a "hit" on me or getting "whacked".
Maybe if it were a $100 bill in a pretty public place, I'd keep it.

Hmmm. One of my mottos is "We lie, cheat, and steal."
I'm there. It'll be buried in the backyard in moments, and I'll take $10k out per year and report it with the IRS as a gift from someone. (That's the largest gift amount you can get per year that's tax-free.) An extra $10,000/year would do me just fine. |

if i found a million bucks in a bag... it´d be BYE BYE time...
i´d spend it on some intrepid adventure, like climbing every 8000 mountain, or even every 7000 mountain... hopefully, i´d come back to my new pad in bora bora with heaps of photos to share on the tfp... but seriously, how far can 1 million dollars go these days anyway? it costs ~$US65,000 - just to buy a place on an everest climb...

the bad part is if it's dirty money, it'll be gone after that year, even though nobody claimed it.
I'd probably take it someplace safe that I alone have access to, and hide it there for a while. (just in case 3 hired goons show up that want to break my legs) And afterwards I would try and get as much of that money in lottery tickets and scratch tickets as possible. The easy way to get some legit cash

That much cash in one place at one time has to be dirty. Buy a safe, put the money in the safe, and limit your spending of the money to avoid rousing suspicions. |

and in the case of a million dollars... you'd better fuckin believe i'm gonna keep it... i'd invest it in something... put the rest away... maybe by myself a car or something... nothing high profile... just... something.

I'd probaly keep it as well, although it would be difficult to pay for most things without suspicion. I'd definetly buy a new computer though. And use it to pay my rent. And then stock up on Alchohol and Ramen. Maybe I'd put it all in a Swedish Bank Account.

Those who are for naively turning it in just to be safe seems to be missing two points:
1. You show up at the police station with a million dollars and actually think they'll let you leave? They'll interrogate you with a blow torch to find out where you got it. "Found it? Yeah right, you actually expect us to believe that?!?! You know we'll find out what you did to get it. Why don't you make it easier on yourself and confess to the crime?" 2. If some criminal is looking for his money and you've turned it in to the police, HE WILL KILL YOU. You're safer with it at home, where if he shows up, you can give it to him. You might still get killed, but you're odds are a lot better than if you tell him the police have it. |
