But I digress.... As a (mostly) law-abiding citizen, I'm not afraid of being shot/beaten in a standoff with the police. In fact, the only brush with the law I've ever had was when I was walking home from a bar after work, very late at night. I had had 4 or 5 drinks, and had cut through a forested area with a bike path that I always took to work. When I exited onto my street, a police car was waiting. The cop asked me what I was doing in a forest at 2:45 A.M. I explained my story, only slurring my speech a little, and he let me go on my merry way. There are some shitty cops out there, but there are a lot more lunatic criminals, I'm a big supporter of police using excessive force on someone who won't put down a knife, regardless of that person's race. |

riots are sooo much fun. speeding is a way of life. smashing the face in of some smart-ass pissing you off is satisfying. there is no reason for the drinking age to be 21 when you go to war at 18. illegal fireworks are the only ones worth setting off. if a cop crossed my path on any of these things then he is gonna need backup.

There is physical reasons why you can't drink until you're 21. Chief among them is probably because your brain isn't fully developed until that approximate time. If you go around getting slammed every night from 18-21 then you're going to end up a dumbass, like you would with marijuana or any other drug that stunts brain development.
The other statements are subjective to say the least, although needless to say I don't recommend pissing someone off who has a gun and/or the ability to put you in jail for a few years.

The times I delt with the Police, I was the victim. They didn't give a rats ass about what happened. According them it was my fault for being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
So it was my fault I was at the mall shopping at 2:00 PM on Wednesday when my car is stolen.... |

Well... I've had a few run in's with the cops, back in my day (so to speak). A fair few of them ended fairly violently (the last of which ended with me getting beaten to a pulp). The one after that, I was caught while shoplifting and went on probation.
On the other hand, they ARE fairly reliable... |

Went through the process to become a Reserve Deputy for LA County. Loooong process, the same as for a regular. After a year, they bounced me on psych reasons (huh?). Still, I utterly respect and admire what they do.

When you live in the safest town in America there's not much for the cops to do. So they end up sitting around waiting for you to make some stupid driving mistake.
Although lots of the people I've talked to who've had run-ins with the law are idiots and speed way too much. My vote goes for pro police.

im quite young, but already dislike the cops, had couple of bad run ins with em...
was riding around with no helmet, pulled over by paddywagon, speeding car goes past like, about 100km/h (in a 50 zone) and cops just look at it, then continue to give me a ticket, only didnt get a ticket cause my dad started questioning them about why they didnt chase the real offender, woulda been a $120 fine as well.... o_O was playing cricket at school with mates, was saturday, cop came in and started abusing us about we're not supposed to be here, when we asked where the signs were he just went off at us and threatened to take the matter to court... so no i dont like the cops. im 16 btw and live in australia so this might give you an idea about the cops here, tho both times it was the same cop who was a real asshole. |

Police Officers have it pretty bad...all day they see the worst of society, and its pretty depressing. I don't know why my friend loves it so much. The only type of cop I don't like are Highway Patrolmen, all they are good for is pulling people over. Talk about a waste of tax payers money. Oh and motorcycle cops, those guys need to have an attitude check. What a group of complete assholes.

They are not my favorite ppl in the world. One of my best friends is a cop and stories he tells makes me like them even less. Thankfully my Uncle is also a cop, and he is a good cop (if there is such a thing) so he helps to keep me balanced.

The police have helped me more than they have hassled me. I think most police officers are honest people who are trying to do the right thing. There are, of course, asshat police officers also.

yah I know there are good cops and bad cops, blah blah blah. Anyway the reason I can't drive like I want to is because of the cops, and cops cuffed and stuffed me in the back of their car and called me a liar to my face when I was telling the truth - I was about 15. Fucking strung way too high dude screaming in the face of a kid who's never been in any trouble and practically in tears....yah you're never getting my trust back dickhead.

Its not that i dont like cops, i just dont like the laws, The_Dude said he prefers the cops to anarchy, and most people would. I would not, Anarchy can work so then the cops wouldnt need to be there. How is a long story, and could be explianed if anyone really wanted because it would entail alot alot alot of typing. But really, Why does a cop get to order me around? what makes him/her better than me? becuase they have guns? might makes right? or is it becuase they took criminalogy, of know the law? i know the law...lawyers know the law and they cant order me around? basicly, the its crap. I do what i want anyway, all the time, most of the time its all legel becuase i follow my own moral code. Cops have always treated me bad, Im not saying that all cops are stupid, i just think that the profession is stupid, even if my best friend became a cop i would still not respect him or his forced athority. Its all useless and i would go on but i scared of getting banned.
also The_Dude is cool,

I never got the whole "profiling" issue.
Why do you think you got pulled over driving a lowered cadilac, wearing a red bandana and cornrows playing loud rap music? Its not because your black, its because you are acting and looking like a criminal STUPID! If you dressed normal and weren't flaunting your rebelious attitude no one would look at you any differently. |

Hard choice! I wouldn't be without them, they do uphold the law. But I was once beat up by them for no reason as I walked past while they were searching someone and accused me of taking drugs from whoever it was they were searching. They then searched me and found nothing, so I dislike them.

i like police in general.
"COPS" is different and what i think is more of the bad side of police; setting people up for no reason but to arrest random ppl. one episode they just left an expensive bike out in the open for anyone to walk by and steal, when the person did, like 8 cops would run out and tackle the guy. yes stealing is wrong but i'd much rather them spend time, money, and energy catching real criminals than silly shit like that. |

I like most cops. Yes there are alot of asshole ones but they have their reasons mostly cause if you dealt with the shit they deal with you would probably be an pissed off son of a bitch too. I treat them with respect cause actually most of them want to help. I know some cops that are a little uptight but hey everyone is different.

I am okay with cops as an entity. Individually, I find them to be universally unfriendly and piggish. But I'm sure this just comes with the job. Complaining that cops are kind of assholes is like complaining that professional athletes are too healthy.

i have the utmost respect for police.
my only nagging concern regarding them is that the authority that they receive socially, may attract some people who are socially inadequate. i feel most of these people are weeded out in the selection process, but some get through, and they are the ones that bully and intimidate, and generally give a bad name for the police. just my thoughts

I'm neutral with cops...
I respect them for upholding the law, and risking their lives so that others may live in peace. But i don't like them (or the majority of them) for their attitudes ( or should i say characters?). Oh ya, and i don't like them hiding in sneaky spots jus so they can shoot unsuspecting motorists with their radar guns |

I think, in general, our police forces, mirror our populations.
Small town cops, know the townfolk, take time to stop and chew the fat [doughnuts],and let you off for little things. Big time cops, are harder edged, quicker to pull a gun, and seem to take any object in someones hand as a lethal weapon..shoot first then take the potato peeler out of the dead woman's hand. If you gotta shoot someone, not carrying a gun, but a knife, potato peeler, a piece of wood... SHOOT'M IN THE LEGS! These are not death penalty offenses. Deadly force should not be used on non life threatening people. Shoot them in the foot, in the legs, if you must. But stop killing people who are just venting and have "Something" in their hand. I do understand it is a hard job... My father, two uncles, stepmother and my son are all, or have been police officers and Sherriffs. None of them has ever shot anyone. |

After last night, I love the police!
I had my bag snatched from me in a parking lot on my way to a bar. Found a cop, they found the guy and amazingly enough, my bag as well. Course the $25 I had in it was gone, but my cell phone and everything else was still in it.

i was once arrested three times in three months by the SAME cop... the guy was stalking me... he had to have been...
it was probably because i was just a punk kid at the time and i was always such an ass hole when it came to cops... i had a problem with them for a long time.. but now its not so bad anymore.

I am all for the police. I don't know any personally, but they do a decent job. As for all the police brutality shit I hear, I can only say this............ how many of the stories start ...... " I was totally innocent"......??? NONE!!!! Then you get ... "It was only shoplifting...." Only???? If you get your shit stolen it isn't only.
Whats next only rape... only murder...??? If you break the law then don't co-operate with the cops when they catch you, I feel a bullet in the ass or a billy club to the head is in order! Sorry for the rant!!
