How do you dress?

Casual or formal, or somewhere in between? What does your work require you to wear? How do you dress when you go to the grocery store?

My job can be pretty physical, and is often dirty, so I often choose to wear more casual clothing than others, including my coworkers. This can mean exercise pants of some kind and a t-shirt. Jeans and a t-shirt is a pretty usual outfit for me at work. Regardless, I am at one extreme end of the casual spectrum. Given what I do, I also don't want to ruin the nice clothes I do have with sweat, shit, or snot. Part of it is that I live in a VERY casual town. We have a university here, and college students roll around town in their pajamas or one step up from pajamas, so I don't feel the need to wear fancy clothes. Sometimes I do go to the grocery store in something approximating pajamas, and I don't feel bad about it.

How about you?

If my shirt's not tucked into my trousers, I feel like a slob.

We don't have a dress code at the office. Usually a nice button down over a plain t-shirt does the job for me, but one fellow shows up every day in a waistcoat and top hat. Whatever makes you happy, I figure.

My style has changed in any significant fashion for years.

Even though I go to law school, I tend to dress down more. My first year I dressed more professionally (button ups, wool over coats, mushroom style sweaters), but last year I just got too overwhelmed to care (always dealing with depressing cases).

I'll usually wear boots, jeans, polo and a hoodie now. If I have a presentation or a client coming I'll suit up.

I'm shirtless when I can be and in comfortable clothes when I can't be shirtless.

At work I'm in a polo shirt and baggy khaki pants. I have 6 work shirts and 2 pairs of khaki pants. I rotate them.

I have two pairs of chef pants that the most comfortable pants ever invented. I wear them year round and I got a pair of camo shorts I wear in the summer.

Cinn steals all my comfortable clothes, I'm going to start hiding them.

For work I tend to dress a lot more formally than I used to. I don't wear a suit but I do wear a shirt and tie/bow tie just about every day. If I am not wearing a jacket, I will have on sweater (the aircon in our office is always cranked... it's like a fricken icebox most days).

At home, I wear shorts and a t-shirt, mostly because of the heat and humidity (30c is the norm).

In the past, I would wear jeans or shorts to the office but more recently, I decided it was time to start dressing like an adult.

I find myself being less and less comfortable outside of the house without a at least a collared shirt. Jeans are ok. Once the dress code becomes any more stringent than 'casual'(even casual, but presentable) I prefer a button-down shirt and not jeans. I've noticed that I seem to fit in best when dressed a step above the minimum, so that's what I shoot for.

I wear casual to work, usually jeans or khaki pants and a decent polo shirt, with sneakers or other casual shoes. In the old days I used to be out visiting customers more but now I only do that rarely and when I do, I wear "nice casual" since the plant operations people I visit aren't dressed in suits and ties.

Over the last couple years our company has given each employee a few nice polo type shirts with the company name monogramed on it. So lately when a special visitor is coming we announce a "shirt up" day and everybody wears their company polo shirts.

There are two ZombieSquirrels. There is the jock ZS. She wears rugby jersies or basketball shorts. She's actually quite butch. Then there is the ZS who dresses quite smart. She has style and has often been complimented.

I do tend to dress more formal than my coworkers, but my job is a little different than the advisors or the office staff. I assist with fundraising. I meet with donors. I like to dress professionally when I am in a meeting with the rich folk. My development director jokes that you can tell when someone isn't from Oregon. She is from the Midwest too, not that the Midwest is a fashion mecca. We just don't dress as casual for work.

Right now I'm wearing jammies since I'm laid up. All I want to do is put on my heels and wear a nice dress. I won't be wearing heels for awhile.

I have to dress up for work - business clothes, nothing fancy. However, when I have to go to schools or in the "field" (which means not in the office), I find that people respond to me better and I get more accomplished if I am dressed down. I guess they relate to me better, especially if I have one of my own home made hats on!

I wear nomex coveralls at work, with shorts and a t-shirt on underneath in case I need to get out of them in a hurry. Just shorts around the house. Other than that, I am almost always in jeans and a t-shirt. I'll do the occasional sportcoat and a button-down if I'm going someplace nice.

My everyday attire is jeans and a t-shirt. When I go into the office (I work from home 4 days a week), I wear jeans and a dressier top. I bust out the slacks for holidays and parties. I own one dress and it is reserved for funerals.

My union contract explicitly prohibits establishment of a dress code. However, my predecessor was quite a character and when I was hired my boss asked me to please not wear jeans and cowboy boots. In the winter, I wear khakis with a polo or button-up shirt and a sport coat. In warmer weather, I forego the sport coat. Aside from administration (I don't wear a suit unless we have a particularly important event,) I am the best-dressed person on staff 99% of the time and enjoy the frequent remarks about this.

At my current job, as a graduate student, I put as little thought into how I dress as possible. Jeans and a t-shirt are typical.

For my new fancy job, I'll be wearing dressy pants and button ups. I've come to realize that I like dressing fancy.

I try to dress appropriately?

At work, I rarely see customers. Nicer jeans and a dress shirt work well. I do have a "customer suit" hanging behind the door on my office for unexpected visits.

I wear leather riding my motorcycle, Gore-tex hiking, ski wear skiing, and jeans/T-shirt/fleece by choice at home.

I have two styles I shift through: casual and club. I'm trying to find a middle ground, but I can't find anything nearly as comfortable and utilitarian as I'm used to.

Also: 20-hole Docs at all times. If it can't go with my Docs and I'm not at a fancy outing, then I'm not wearing it.

My non-working days are pretty damn casual, since I don't have money to buy too many clothes and most of what I have is left over from high school and my "in-between" years.

But I wear a suit to work, usually no tie. Sometimes I'll put on a tie for a big client, but that's about it.
I'm appreciating dressing up more and more, and I plan on updating my "everyday" wardrobe as soon as I get some extra cash.

Mostly I'm a jeans and tee shirt kind of guy. Though sense I've gotten a bit more into the gun culture, I've started adding more button up tops to the wardrobe. Long cut and slightly over sized to keep my gun from printing to much.

Very casual... at home, I'm almost always in jeans & a tanktop (or hoodie, depending on the weather.) Going to the grocery store means throwing on a shirt over the tank, but that's about it. Going out to dinner is usually jeans and a slightly dressier shirt.

Both of my jobs require black dress pants; Ruby's shirt has to be black, no buttons or zippers, and at the catering place, I wear a black polo. I recently found out we can wear tasteful black skirts while catering, which I'll most likely do for any outdoor events.

I do like to wear skirts occasionally, but they're normally of the hippie/gypsy variety, not dressy.

I prefer jeans most of the time. Which cracks people up because I wear them year-round in Florida. Usually paired with a tshirt. When we go out, usually a nicer top and jeans if appropriate, dress pants when not. I do have a few dresses, but they do display the boobs a bit, so it depends on where I'm going.
For work I wear mostly darker colors (I work with kids) and usually a pair of casual dress pants and a knit shirt, thin sweater or a button down with a tank under it (it's hot in the car, cold in the office). I'm notorious for trying to get away with my flip flops at work with my dress pants... especially on home visits. The families think it's a trip. But I do like tall shoes when they have a substantial heel and are comfy.
My weight tends to fluctuate a bit and I haven't bought new clothes successfully in a while because the current length of tshirts (over and below the hips), the "deconstructed" fad, and the skinny pants make me look ridiculous, so at some point I plan to dress a little more fashionable... when fashion gets its brain back and clothing stops having little anchors and sailor stripes (or collars) on it.

OK ... and my answer to the topic: Jeans and black t shirt. I might wear a black cashmere jacket, depending on the client's expectations. When presenting or performing, then the cashmere jacket will be on at the beginning and the end, but I try to lose it most of the time, except when it is cold. Even then, I prefer to just have a silk shirt over the t shirt, but tucked in the jeans.

Chefwear makes the most comfortable pants out there. I'd recommend them over any other maker of chef pants. Happy chef is another good company out there.

Wow. There is nothing semi-formal about chef pants. They are practically pyjamas (with heavier cloth).

To my eyes, chef's pants suggest that it's, Hammer Time!
