alternatives are few and far between.i do the odd side job here and there, but with this cloudy weather i'm not gonna rip a guys roof off just for the job.don't want it to rain in his living room.
i'm pretty outgoin' but if i don't have anything goin' by like 10am then it's tough to motivate yourself after bein' up since 5. i guess i can finish painting my games room today.(don't get paid for that) |

I know this feeling all too well.
Quite a few years ago, this seemed to be the common occurance. I was recently let go from one school district because they privitized our building (sold our portion of the school to a private company which then came in and fired all the left over people from the Board of Ed). So I went back to substituting. The school I was substituting in had an opening (teacher had a heart attack and was not returning). The Principal wanted to hire me, but the Superintendent wanted to hire some local Congressman's nephew. So I lost out there. And the substituting continued. Then I found a position in another school, interviewed, and was practically hired on the spot. All I needed to do was sign the contract. They had me get them all the copies of the paperwork I needed to be able to begin working. So when I called to ask them when to bring them the paperwork, they said, "Don't bother, we hired someone else." Turned out that the daughter of a State Senator needed a job. I went back to substituting... until something else came around. That's the trick... you need something to fall back on until the right opportunity comes around. I've been in my present job 5 years now, and I'm thankful I kept my sanity throughout all the madness. I wish you luck. Just make sure you keep your cool during all of this. |

I haven't been in your postion quite yet, but my job isn't a joyfull one to say the least. (To ppl quit b/c the stress got to them.) The boss man here is an ass plain and simple. I can't quit, b/c like everyone else I have bills, and finding another job is hard enough.
I don't expect my boss to the greatest man in the world but I do expect that he treats everyone equally. But no that's not what we get, we get two-faced crap. Here a few special people get there ass kissed by the boss b/c they've been here for a half a decade or more. My thing if you don't do your work why the hell should I have to do it? Okay, my complaining aside, I wish you the best of luck in your search and if you happen to find a good job with no b.s. find out if they have a second opening for me

i got a job at the laundry mat next to my dorm. i get up early monday morning and start getting ready for work. they call me about a half hour before i was supposed to be in and told me that they didn't need me anymore; before i even got to put in a second at work. turned out that the old guy had asked his wife that day they told me i was hired, to come in full time.

Worst that happenned to me was the time I returned from vacation (my first after 28 months with the company) to find out I'd been laid off.
On the upside I needed a few days to recover from my vacation and I had a new position by the end of the week.
