What temp do you try to maintain in your home?

68-71 degrees F.

I like a cool house. I use blankets year round, especially while lounging in front of the tv. Including in the summer.

In the heat of the summer, my electric bill can get up to $200 / month and I'm in a 3 bedroom ranch. In the dead of winter, the bill's around $160 / month.

I prefer 65-70 in the winter, and 75-80 in the summer.

Mostly because I'm cheap...

In the winter I like it around 17.5-18.5C (64-66) most of the time, unless I am feeling under the weather then I will turn it up.

In the summer I have 0 choice in the temperature, and it gets insanely hot in this place. On the main floor it registers in at 28 (82 F) most of the time, and upstairs in my computer room and bed room its about 32 (90 F). No air conditioning for me.

In winter we range from 65 at night to 73 during the colder days. In the summer we set the AC anywhere from 65-70. It seems like a huge range, but the house is big and only one system for the whole thing, so some rooms freeze and others cook-at different times of the year.

I don't have a specific temperature (range). I once took my temp a week straight while at work, 3 times (am, noon, and pm). My own temp runs me at 99 - 99.3. I also have a 3rd floor, southwest facing apartment working against/for me (heat rises etc). I adjust it as necessary for me. On cool days like we've been having, I leave my windows open and keep the blinds down a little. The sun really heats my place up in the afternoon.

So... yep, that's what I do, and no, I haven't had outrageous bills.

Whatever the temperature is outside, basically. We live pretty much right on Venice Beach, CA, so it never really gets cold enough to need actual heating (sometimes heavier blankets at night, that's about it), and in the summer we just use fans-- the worst of the heat is usually ameliorated by oceanside cooling and breezes.

Tough life, right?

I hate paying a stupid heating bill of 5 to 6 hundred for our tiny domicile even more than being cold, although I do turn on the stove in the mornings just to warm up, my Hub thinks I'm crazy, maybe true.

In the summer, 87, 88 sometimes 90------ YEAH, minimal clothes, hot and sweltering with the ceiling fans for a breeze and all the windows open. I Love Being HOT, Humid and I would say sticky but, oh, never mind.... I Love HOT, HUMID and STICKY....... God I miss FL.

If Heaven is less than 87 degrees, I may as well live in Hell. I'm actually looking forward to menopause just FOR the hot flashes.

with the AC going in the summer, we set the thermostat to 24. That seems to cut the humidity and keep it cool enough to be comfortable. In the winter it is set to 20 or 21 which is comfortable room temperature.

In the summer, probably around 74-75.

Thermostat is set at 55. If the wife or daughters want it warmer the wood pile is in back and the wood burning stove can do "sauna" if you like.

In the 11 years that I've lived here, it has only reached 90 three times. We don't own an air conditioner.

Usually right around 70 is perfect for me. In the summer when it gets ridiculously hot I might turn the air up and get the temps down to around 65-66 but I guess normally the stat is right around 70.

In the summer its usually near 75-80. I only turn the AC on till the living room or bedroom is bearable. Hate the heat but the electric bills are outrageous in the summer.

I like it cool, around 65 (especially for sleeping) so winter is great but summer can be expensive, so even with central cooling I have a little window unit in my bedroom so I don't have to pay to keep the whole 2400 square sleeping comfy.

Same here. Summer or winter we try and keep it locked as close to 73 as possible. We've got a steady $170 electric bill almost year round, mostly because this apartment complex was built in the 80's and leaks like a damn sieve.

I always try and rent in apartments that pay for the heat or AC, and use that to my advantage. Or I rent an apartment that makes use of the floor to offset whichever it doesn't pay for.

IE; they pay for AC but not heat, I'll get an apartment on a higher floor. Since heat rises, pay less for heat in the winter, and crank AC in summer. Vice versa if they pay for heat but not AC. Get a ground level/below ground level apartment, and keep windows open/try and get an apartment in the shade.

Worked quite well for me in my renting experience.

70 in the winter and usually 70 as well in the summer, sometimes in the summer time nothing. I don't have the ac really high during the spring/summer because, me and my family we really enjoy the hot weather, it doesn't bug us, we can just sit there and wey'll be fine, plus we also have ceiling fans in every room to give a little breeze. During the summer we just sit at the back yard, go swimming until the weather starts to cool up, then we head inside for bed.
