Corey Haim found dead.

Corey Haim Found Dead | TMZ.com

Quote:
Actor Corey Haim died this morning of an apparent overdose -- possibly accidental -- according to LAPD. He was 38.

Police tell us they were called to St. Joseph's hospital in Burbank, CA shortly before 4AM PT to investigate.

Haim shot to fame in the 80s -- when he co-starred in a number of films, including "The Lost Boys," with Corey Feldman.

Haim reportedly suffered a drug-induced stroke in 2001 and was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center.

Haim also reportedly was in and out of rehab 15 times, but cleaned up in 2004 after moving to Toronto.
Very unfortunate. He looked like he was doing much better recently. Hollywood corrupts and finally destroys another young talent. RIP Man. I loved you in Prayer of the Rollerboys.

Shit, and there goes a chunk of my childhood.

I read recently that Feldman removed him from a project they were working on because of his drug problem, hoping he'd clean up.

Of the 2 of them, I would have never have thought that Feldman would be the one to get his shit together (or so it seems). Good for Feldman.

As to Haim, I caught a bit of "The 2 Cories" a while back. You could tell he was fucked up most of the time - even on that show. Him OD'ing is not a big surprise. (Sadly)

I guess allot of child stars really get eaten up by the machine. Cute kid, not so cute (even wierd looking) adult. Big money fast, people kissing your ass, never being told no. Tough when it all comes to a screaming halt.

I was an extra in the move Silver Bullet, which was shot in my hometown of Burgaw, NC. I had lunch on the set and sat next to him. We chatted a little. He seemed like a pretty nice kid. I was 16, I think he was 11 or 12.

It's a shame that such a promising kid would grow up so screwed up, and have his life end so poorly.

I kinda remember his name, but not where from. Besides Lost Boys (I did see that, I think Kieffer was in it) was he in a sitcom like Full House? I also didn't know that he was born here.

Along with the movies mentioned above, I enjoyed his work in "Lucas" "Murphy's Romance" and "Dream a Little Dream'.

Damn, I didn't realize he was my age, as well. Too bad he couldn't kick his problems.

RIP, Corey.

Now there are only two 80's Corey's left.

I think we might be jumping to conclusions here. Police say some prescription drugs were found in his home, but it was also reported that he was suffering from "flu-like symptoms" for several days. Perhaps the meds were for his illness; perhaps not. Of course, a lifetime of drug abuse can leave the body weakened and more vulnerable to other illnesses, like pneumonia or flu, so I suppose it's safe to say his lifestyle was a contributing factor.

Yeah, yournamehere, Corey Feldman was on Larry King saying basically the same thing. His death is probably related to the years of abuse he put his body through, but we don't know what the cause was yet, and people are jumping to conclusions when they say it was an overdose.

Sean Astin was in The Goonies, not Corey Haim. (They look kinda alike.) And as far as it as a Feldman gig, it predated much of the Two Coreys dynasty. The Goonies was 1985, and the Coreys didn't show up together until The Lost Boys in 1987. (Both are amazing films, btw.)

I read an article quoting a woman who went on a date with Haim not too long ago. She said it was a disaster: he was nearly 300 lbs., double-fisting junk food, and asked where he could score some weed (but he asked her not to say anything because he's "not supposed to have it").

I'd take it with a grain of salt, but it doesn't sound that far fetched to me.

I don't remember what channel it was, (probably an old Disney one) but I remember watching The Edison Twins as reruns. I liked the sister, thought she was cute. I also remember the brother from an episode of MacGyver. He had a speed problem in the episode because he couldn't deal with the pressure to be like his Professor dad.
I don't remember Corey Haim in TET, though.

Haim funeral to take place in Toronto - thestar.com

The funeral for Corey Haim will take place in his hometown, Toronto, the deceased actor’s manager said on Thursday.

A date has not been set.

“(Haim’s family) want to do it back home ..... but there will be a memorial in L.A.,” manager Marc Haislip told US Magazine.

His family is reportedly soliciting donations from the Hollywood community to defray costs of the burial.

Haim, 38, died Wednesday.

The star of films such as Lost Boys and Lucas, Haim struggled for much of his adult life with drug addiction. No illegal drugs were found in his small L.A. apartment. Autopsy results will not be available for several weeks.

Canadian actor Corey Haim dies in Los Angeles at 38
The Canadian Press

LOS ANGELES — In the 1980s, Corey Haim became a teen pin-up favourite, a baby-faced idol with an infectious grin and a "firecracker" personality.

But as he shot to stardom with a string of hit films including the 1987 vampire smash "The Lost Boys," the promising Toronto-born actor fell into a debilitating battle with drugs and alcohol that he later blamed for ruining his career and destroying his health.

On Wednesday, Haim died in Los Angeles at age 38. Police said the actor had flu-like symptoms before he died and was getting over-the-counter and prescription medications. An autopsy is expected to determine the cause of death and officials say there was no evidence of foul play.

Over the last decade, a noticeably heavier Haim was a bit of a fixture at Toronto pubs in his downtown neighbourhood, where a friend said he lived with his mother in a one-bedroom apartment. In recent years, Haim struggled to mount a career comeback in Los Angeles.

Andrew Sabiston, who starred with Haim in the mid-1980s on the CBC-TV show "The Edison Twins," painted a starkly different picture of the budding star he worked with -- an up-and-comer brimming with energy and enthusiasm.

"He was always this little firecracker," Sabiston said. "He was always prepared. Right into it. Loved the excitement of being on a set. He was professional."

Haim had been open about his struggle with drug and alcohol abuse in recent years, telling a London tabloid in 2004 that he smoked his first joint while working on "The Lost Boys," which co-starred Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Patric, and that things escalated from there.

"I did cocaine for about a year and a half, then it led to crack," he told The Sun.

After 15 attempts at rehab he suffered a stroke. He says he was 200 pounds at the time and was put on prescription drugs.

"I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck," he said. "But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day."

Haim was intent on kicking unhealthy habits in recent years, says friend Orlena Cain, who met the actor at a Toronto pub in 2005. He was overweight and she didn't recognize him at the time.

"He let me know, 'Hey, I'm Corey Haim,"' said Cain, a morning radio host on Mix 97 in Quinte, Ont.

"I had to grab my thoughts for a second. We talked that day and he said, 'You know, I'm kind of trying to make my way back. I'm looking for friends. I can't really trust a lot of people."'

Former CFL player Fabian Rayne said he tried to help Haim turn his life around two or three years ago at his health club.

"He was trying to get back into shape and get his life together," Rayne said.

In his heyday, the actor was a box office draw with his boyish good looks and goofy grin. He and fellow teen sensation Corey Feldman, who co-starred with Haim in "The Lost Boys," "License to Drive," "Dream A Little Dream" and "Dream A Little Dream 2," became known as "The Two Coreys" -- a relationship they parlayed into an attempted comeback in 2007 with an A&E reality series of the same name.

Feldman released a statement Wednesday mourning the loss of his "brother," noting that his brother and sister broke the news to him the moment he woke up.

"My eyes weren't even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face," Feldman said.

"I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans.... This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend."

Haim got his start in TV commercials at 10. But after his string of '80s hits, he had trouble finding work.

His fall from grace included an application for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 1997, in which he listed debts for medical expenses and more than $200,000 in state and federal taxes.

Ten years later, blogger Perez Hilton noted that Haim had bought a full-page ad in Variety, seeking work.

"This is not a stunt," stated the ad, composed of white lettering on a black-and-white photo of a smiling Haim. "I'm back. I'm ready to work. I'm ready to make amends."

For a time, the attempts seemed to work. Haim made a few TV appearances, several direct-to-video movies and had more films in production, according to his IMDB page.

But his battle with drugs appeared to be a constant struggle. "The Two Coreys" was cancelled in 2008 after just two seasons, with Feldman later blaming Haim's drug abuse for straining their working and personal relationships.

Cain says she never saw Haim use drugs but noted that he often seemed depressed. At times, she said she loaned him money so that he could travel to nearby Pickering, Ont., to work out with Rayne.

"He was depressed but he was still his charming self," said Cain.

"In Corey's mind, he was still that '80s heart-throb that could win girls' hearts over.... I'm so sad that no one will really ever get to see that part of him now because he's gone. No one could help him."

Coroner: Haim died of pneumonia complications

Actor Corey Haim arrives at a Fashion Show on March 19, 2009 in Hollywood, Calif. Haim died at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 of an apparent accidental drug overdose, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Actor Corey Haim died from pneumonia complicated by an enlarged heart, bad lungs and narrowed blood vessels, while drugs found in his system played no role in his death, the Los Angeles County coroner said Tuesday. Haim, 38, died from "community-acquired pneumonia" along with lung, heart and blood vessel problems, according to the autopsy report.

Low levels of eight drugs, including both prescription and over-the counter medications, were found in his system along with marijuana, coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey said.

"But nothing was at a level that would have contributed to his death," Harvey said.
The drugs included common cold and flu medications, such as ibuprofen and a cough-suppressant, he said.

Haim, who struggled with drug problems throughout his life, died March 10 after collapsing in his mother's apartment. He had been suffering from flu-like symptoms.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown said in April that Haim employed "doctor shopping" to obtain 553 prescription pills — including powerful sedatives such as Valium and Xanax and painkillers such as Vicodin and Oxycontin — in the two months before his death. Brown called Haim — the star of 1980s films such as "The Lost Boys" and "License to Drive" — a poster child for prescription drug abuse.

However, no Oxycontin was found in his body, Harvey said.

Mark Heaslip, the actor's agent, did not return a phone message seeking comment Tuesday.
well apparently it wasn't drugs.
