goosebumps
ok, so you normally get goosebumps when you're cold, because they help your body retain heat. However, i aslo experiences them, sometimes, whilst listening to some of my favourite music. It can be the hottest day ever, and sometimes i still get chills down my spine and goosebumps. Also, i somtimes get them if i am really, really happy about something or something touches me in a special way (not always physically tho), normally involving girls
Anyways, i was just wondering if there is any reason for this to be happening, or what goosebumps are really for. Also if you ever get goosebumps in somewhat, unusual circumstances. |

it doesnt really help us get warm. Its a leftover reflex from the days when we had much more FUR.
The goosebumps would then fluff up the fur, trapping more air, and keep the caveman warmer. Its kinda like how cats can fluff themselves up when scared or angry... |

With the music... if you get an emotional push from a certain song, ie your favorite song, it can create the same response as an emotional push from a female. I know certain songs are just so damn cool to me that i get goosebumps at certain parts simply because i like it so much.

I agree with Pedialyte on the music one, cause that happens to me. I also get them sometimes when Galaxygirl says something so thoughtful and kind...it just hits me. My sister also has that abilty on me as well.

Goosebumps are actually a very important determination or not of whether a girl *does it* for me. Not completely sexual-but definitely partly sexual. Not completely emotional or physical, but partly.
Bad definition, hopefully you get the idea

Goosebumps are caused by a stimulation of the arrector pili muscles that surround most hairs on your arms, legs, and torso. I always thought it was neat that these things are actually muscles. I know this because (many years ago) this was a question on one of my anatomy tests....heh

I always like getting goosebumps whens its really hot, just cause it's a little weird.
Today i was doing some gardening, although it was pretty cold, i was sweating and really hot pulling/hoeing out weeds and other plants/trees. Anyway, after i finished i was still hot and just relaxing to some music and got them. This sort of ambivalence of being hot and having goosebumps was such a fantastic feeling, although unfortunatly didn't last too long. |

It's weird sometimes whenever something really badass happens in a game, movie or I hear a really sweet guitar riff I get goosebumps all the up my arm, the back of my neck until I over my head.. its a very odd but cool feeling... It almost feels like my skin shrinks slightly...

I get goosebumbs every time I hear that little guitar riff at 3:55 in Tool's Sober. It emphasizes so much the feeling of the interlude.

I get goosebumps at strange times as well. I am in an Air Force cadets thing, and I got them when I looked round at all the younger cadets who I had trained, being inspected by an officer, and being generally shit hot. On another note, we still shiver to keep warm, the muscle contractions heat us up.

well, i get them a lot.
i get them when i´m cold... like jack said. i get them when i see something or hear something that particularly touches me... like listening to Wild Horses, or Emotion, or something... i also get them, along with a shiver, when someone ´steps on my grave´. do yall know what i´m talking about? when i drive past a big truck at high speed, or something similar, i get a shiver, and goosebumps... i refer to that feeling as someone stepping on my grave... but i guess its just an adrenaline/chemical reaction of something going on up there in my brain...

As for goosebumps and songs, i just watched a classic albums documentary on Dark side of the moon, and when that chick (forget her name, Clare someone?) starts singing/shreiking on the great gig in the sky i always get nice chills and goosebumps. |
