This just in . . . . . . McDonalds to go vegan; expect profits to soar, reduce unwanted riff-raff. According to a company spokesman, "We've never really been about the selling of meat - that's an unfair and undeserved reputation we've been trying to correct, and it's unfair to our loyal customer base, who have been coming here for years to order salads. Now they can feel comfortable bringing a friend along for a Flurry, knowing that they will no longer suffer the shame of being associated with the murder of farm animals."

If I don't like it, I can click the "Log Out" button. If he wants to make a few bucks for all the remarkably hard work he's done in the past decade, more power to him.

FWIW, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. My life changes not one bit if the Titty Board is an extra click away. I'm just digging for the reasons. Someone brought up FARK, and they clearly made their changes to increase ad revenue. HalX assures us TFP won't go the ad route. I believe him (for now, though that route is awfully tempting, esp. if site traffic increases)

Good move. I still use the TB from time to time, but this won't change that.
Unfortunately, this still doesn't mean I'll bring friends over here..Just too much personal stuff.

As an earlier post mentioned, "gaping cunts don't kill people - guns do". Or rather, people who turn to guns as a problem solver.
In all truth - I have found the glorification of weapons here ALOT more disgusting than any of the porn posts. That being said...it will be interesting to see how long before the Ads start appearing. For me, the erotic stuff is just 1 more click away - so in some ways it will be easier for me to be less distracted by all the wargames crap & gun "porn" pretending to be intelligent discussion(s). Live & Let Live. Good Luck either way.

Just to put an end to all the gun/porn arguing:
Guns don't kill people; bullets do.

If you want to get technical, it's not even the bullets. It's the lack of bloodflow in the brain that kills people.

You can kill a person with a gun if you use it as a blunt weapon or impale his or her eye/heart (depending on length) on a barrel.

And how do you see that happening?
We have no pictures of nudity or sexual acts now - except of course for our members' photos. This slope is so slippery it deserves its own water park.

All this speculation. So little truth.
Guys, exhibition is staying. If I could, I would make it a larger part of the site. It is a huge part of what the TFP stands for. Porn is just porn and there is very little sentimentality attached to it - that is why it is gone. It has always been the bait or the crutch, and we must move on without it. That doesn't mean that the site is going to be made safe for church. Stop flipping out.

Ahh...so it all comes back to "What is the definition of porn?".
Halx wants ehibition to stay, on the basis that it is a huge part of what the TFP stands for. I agree. It is. On the other hand, I can see where yournamehere believes the issue to be a slippery slope. It is. Boobs are boobs. It matters little, save for ourselves, whether they belong to an airbrushed model or one of our own members. So, in that light, the "porn" really isn't going away...now is it? Halx is also correct (hell, he should know) the Erogenous Zone was used as bait to lure in membership. Occasionaly, we caught a big fish. Of course, we also had quite a few small fry that would just nibble on the bait. In any case, if a lure is tangled on the bottom, preventing any more "fishing", then sometimes the fisherman has to cut his line, cursing the lose of a good lure. So goes the metephor. It's time to try some new bait. Beyond Halx's reasoning for exhibition to stay, I would hate like hell to see it go for my own selfish reasons. My personal proclivity toward porn leans to the amateur. I could not really care less if the Erogenous Zone goes away. I can find airbrushed perfection on any one of 1,000,000,000 sites out there. Amateur is...real. Just as our members are real. It's a nice plus for me to be able to associate an exhibition post to a members other posts and ramblings. And, speaking of rambling...I am. So, I'll just depart by saying that to a brand new member, that doesn't "know" our membership, the pair of boobs, or the raging hardon, displayed in Tilted Exhibition, is still just porn. It just means a little more to us.

But then how is it more acceptable for co-workers, friends and family? I mean those that weren't invited because of the porn.

Well said Bill.
I think this change jars me because it is the first time we have decided to actively censor content for perception rather than legal reasons. I just want to know we're not going to go the way of fark-making hundreds of tiny concessions over time to ruin the spirit of the place. No one can make that guarantee of course, so I'll have to just trust it won't. |

For starters because exhibition is only available to full members. A casual glance over the front page by a new member will reveal no boobs whatsoever.
TFP is not and will never be 'family friendly.' We're just a little less family unfriendly now.

I also want to add that speculating about slippery slopes is sorta insulting to me. Not that you'll be warned for it, but I want you to know how personally invested I am in the TFP and its development. The TFP will, at times, take on a mind of its own, but it will never stray too far from what I want it to be. So you have to trust that I want the TFP to be intellectually stimulating and sexually titillating all at the same time. You have to trust that I want this site to kick ass. It does you little good to define "porn" because you know what I am talking about when I speak, even if I don't do so in a concise manner.
I got rid of the big section that had nothing to do with discussion or personal expression. Yes, I'm aware I "missed a few spots" but I don't live by hard and fast rules. I made "a move" in "a direction" that will hopefully lead to "positive results" of some kind. Stop being so suspicious. I hang out here, too.
