We need to hold hands because one of the below applies: 1. The person is on Medicaid or Medicare 2. The person is uninsured (guess who pays then) 3. The person is fully insured. Guess what happens when someone with your same insurance has major medical bills? The cost of insurance for everyone else skyrockets. In any of the above ways, we are diverting resources to a problem - the numerous health problems experienced by those who are obese. I don't believe this is the correct solution, in the original thread. But someone needs to get it across to people that being overweight affects more than just you. |

I'm fuggin pissed at McDonalds right now caus it cost me over $5 for a grilled chicken sandwich and diet coke when I could've got the sandwich, fries, and drink for $4.39+tax. Sure I could have bought the value meal and threw the fries in the trash but do you think that would really happen?
Now tell me again how the fast food industry has no effect on how people eat. I wish they would stop marketing value meals and making special price breaks on combos. Just charge the same price for the sandwich, fries, and drink no matter how you order it. |

As a overweight person I know I am the cause for my problems!! But because I am overweight I am suppose to be unhappy; I am not!! I do eat in moderation and do excerise!! I am a former Marine and know the right way!! However I am not going to kill myself try to fit in a size 3!! Far too many people are trying too hard to please other people!! I am not worried!! Labels on fast food may help but it is not a solution!! Label I will still eat it!! So will the rest of the world!! I personally do not care about living an extra 10yrs to make everyone happy!! I could die tomorrow in a car wreck and all those tofu burgers really did not help did they!!! Power to the BIG MAC!!

Why the hell should a Fast Food Restaurant be responsible for your actions?
If they are to stupid to realize that McDonalds & all the rest of those So called restaurants are bad for you...Then they deserve what they get. I eat at McDonalds once in awhile, And it usually tastes like shit...But it puts something in the stomach when I am in a rush, I also don't gain weight...At All...And if I did from eating that shitty food, I would not sue McDonalds like other people have in the past..........Hmmm....On second thought |

Also, are you implying that you are better than people who use McD's to as you say *put something in (their) stomach,* because you don't gain weight when you do, but they do gain weight? Last edited by Double D; 09-04-2003 at 10:11 AM.. |

I'm not a small person, but I try to do what I can to keep the weight off. Smaller portions of food, better food, and exercise as much as I can. I've gotten a little lazy on the last one, but I know my weight problem isn't the fast food industry's. I don't eat out a bunch, and usually it's Taco Bell or Subway. Occasionally a better restaraunt, but even then, that's maybe 3 times in two months...or less.

I agree McDonalds and many other restaurants give us extra motivation to buy more food because it's a better value. It's sad but they only market what sells. If we didn't buy it they would have to find another marketing sceme.
I'm a fairly healthy size but at one time when I was 19 I was 35 lbs more than a healthy weight (not that skinny starved look weight either) and I lost it by making my own choice to eat right. I "cheat" often but in small portions and never call it cheating. I also eat things that are good for me and I cook without lots of extra butter, salt and sugar. I use those things but in moderation. Suing someone else for our lack of self control is never a way to succeed. We have to take responsibility for our own actions.
