"life is meals" by jay salter is 365 food essays, short, quick and easy and really interesting, non fiction.
i really loved "time: its origin, and history by alexander waugh. not dry at all, damn interesting, non fiction. all the conan books by robert e howard are pretty awesome, and i consider conan more classic than harry pothead, and you can buy them in a collection. other than that, you can't go wrong with all the books everyone's mentioned so far.

One specific comment on Harry Potter - if you are reading it in public, there's a better chance than any other book that someone will come up to you to talk about it. Given your work location, I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing - you know your customers, you have to make that decision.

Thanks very much for all the sugesstions! I am writing them all down and will browse through the titled when I can. I just thought of a more specific kind of book, I wonder if anyone may have sugguestions on the style of Anarchist Novels?
I cannot count how many non-fiction books I have read regarding the philosophy of anarchy, I would find it very interesting to see such principles applied to a fictional story. Anyone read anarchist-influenced literature lately?

No one has mentioned Al Gore's The Assault on Reason yet, it's a great read. The United States and possibly the world would be a better place if a few votes would have went the other way in Florida.
