floods
more dead, more 100's millions worth of damage... and now people are being told that fresh water supplies are running out, because the treatment facilities are flooded!
This is what people are going to have to get used to... this is what our weather is going to be like from now on and it will only get worse.

Strange, the weather always -has- been this way. It always -will- be this way. Prague was flooded in 2002 and dried out in two weeks. A flood in the 18th Century partially demolished the Charles Bridge and -did- demolish several less substantial structures.
Floods happen. Earthquakes and tsuamis happen. Droughts, hurricanes, tornadoes... ...all of these things have been happening, everywhere in the world to one extent or another, for the last few billion years. They'll keep happening for -another- few billion years, regardless of anything we do. In fact, if global warming is in fact happening, and results in the shutdown of the Gulf Stream and Labrador currents as predicted, you can probably expect -less- rain in England, although you can also probably expect more snow, since the UK and western Europe would be cooled considerably by such an event. |

Oh yes, global warming is a myth.....just because the CO2 concentrations are higher than ever recorded, the polar ice caps are melting along with the glaciers, and 40% of the earths population rely on glaciers and snowfall for their drinking water, not to mention the hottest 10 years in recorded history just happened.......its not our fault and there's nothing we can do , so fuck it....(insert sarcasm as needed)

I keep looking back at my post and wondering where I denied the possibility of AGW*.
Nope, still not finding it. Oh, there's that nasty little word "if." Sorry if I prefer to withold judgement on such a thing until I see sufficiant evidence from either side presented without the hyperbole, manipulation of evidence, and scare-tactics which predominate on both sides of the debate. I find many AGW evangelists to be shrieking luddites with severe issues with honesty; likewise many of the anti-AGW people are simply looking for an excuse to sit on their asses and do nothing about very real, tangible, proven and provable environmental crises. Since neither side seems consistantly capable of framing the debate in an honest way without appealing to fear, laziness, or both, I remain agnostic. *That the planet is warming is not in doubt. I withold my judgement on the source and cause of the warming |

The scientific evidence is in, and common sense also applies. Some people just cant see the forest for the trees. Many factors are involved, including the intensity of the sun, the orbit of the earth, and of course the good ole green house gases. Most open minded, intelligent people will accept the fact that people have been adding CO2 to the atmosphere since the industrial revolution began. While GW may be a natural process, there is no doubt that we have accelerated the process.

Since you're on the soap box about CO2... What are you specifically doing to help DaveMatrix? Do you still drive? Do you still use electricity? Do you still breath?
My bet (and no I don't have evidence) is that the population increase over the last few hundred years has almost as much to do with extra greenhouse gases as the petroleum. In addition, we keep cutting down our CO2 absorbers... You know, those green things called plants? My point, industrial revolution aside, people have been adding CO2 to the air since there were people... |
