What childhood dream would you like to realize?
I got this today from my dad:
Yesterday we showed your mother a video tape of me doing something I’ve wanted to do ever since I was a little boy, and saw all my heroes performing their deeds in open cockpit bi-planes. You’ve seen ads for “Warbirds”..(?).., they usually fly low wing advanced fighter trainers, but I found an outfit still flying a 1943 Stearman primary trainer.., and I just had to do it before I became an old man !! For obvious reasons, I didn’t tell your mother before hand ! If this crate was the first thing the cadets flew in, it’s a wonder they didn’t quit and join the submarine corp..!!.., but I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed it. I had always heard you don’t know what flying is until you are in one of these things, and I believe it. Nothing at all like a cabin plane, and there’s nothing between you and the ground except a sheet of canvas ( there is no floor in the cockpit, just a couple of rails to rest your feet on. ) It was the Friday after “the Wedding”. We didn’t have any machine guns so we couldn’t shoot anyone down, though at a top speed of 85 MPH the only thing we could have would be a kite. ( I swear a bird passed us once ! ) Flying over highways, it looked like the cars were passing us. They let you take the controls after you take off, but I did not do much as I was enjoying the ride and view.., but.. ( don’t tell your mother ) I would like to go again, and I would do the flying around then. I wouldn’t let the pilot do any stunts as I did not want to have to clean out the cockpit. That’s the story of my adventure.., I waited 70 years for.., but at last I got to do it… Dada My dad will be 78 in September. My only childhood dream that was a constant was to own a stable of horses. That's an expensive idea, so I don't see it happening, but most of what I do now, while not totally life-risking thrilling, is what I enjoy, so regrets are few. What would you like to do before you get too old to do it? Is it possible to do? What's the main thing holding you back from doing it?

/I want to discover a series of small walls

I always just wanted one KILLER vacation. No bullshit trips to New Hampshire or Hershey Park, something in the Caribbean maybe, gorgeous weather, beaches, you name it. Not even really much of a beach/water person, but I think it's time I save up some money and give myself a little graduation present this time next year. I've worked too hard to not have any fun.

I want to learn to ride a mechanical bull.
And I want to be able to fly.

To construct my own mechanical metropolis, which can sort of travel around the world. I would obviously be the overlord of such a machine, and crush everything in my path. I'd have a robot army too, and they'd be wicked cool.
Something more realistic, to travel around at least 100 countries. I love travelling and I can see me achieving this at some point in my life. So far I've hit 15 in my life. |

If I were ever given the opportunity to become a firefighter, I'd weep tears of joy. I've always wanted to be a firefighter, but am unable to due to my severe heart disability. I'm able to lift the pack, and carry people out of fire, and even work in an ultra hot environment without being too distracted, but there's that small chance my aorta will suddenly pop and spray around inside my chest like a garden hose.
The idea of running into a burning building to rescue people I've never met before give me goosebumps. |

I always wanted to have an adventure like they did in The Goonies.
Either that or design my own giant robot suit. I'm sure a giant robot suit would come in very handy during an adventure. Guess I'll just sit here designing wave machines and swimming pools until something exciting happens.

I still would like to realize my dream of becoming an archaeologist like Shani, or an architect that builds beautiful feats, or perhaps an author of sorts...
but that is just me...

After a cancer scare at the ripe old age of 39, I've been on a mission to scratch a lot of dreams off of my lifetime list.
Got a motorcycle at 40. Got a bigger, faster motorcycle at 42. Moved to the mountains at 44. Backpacked in Montana and Alaska Went hiking in New Zealand for my 50th (and 51st) birthday. Off to Switzerland in a month. Still on my list, visiting the moon and bedding Jessica Alba. Both are equally likely. |

I've always dreamed of designing and building my own house. I used to draw "dream houses" all the time when I was little. I doubt I'll design/build my own house for a while yet, but right now I am designing my parents' new house... so that's a start.

To fly a Moon landing mission.
To learn to fly. I actually had three flying lessons a year ago, but had to stop because of ear problems. Still, I came away with some great memories from that - including being allowed to land the plane on the first flight! To remarry and have kids before I get too old. Looks only slightly more likely than the first dream.

I want to go into space and see the Earth from above. Not just a high altitude flight, but actually see the whole planet surrounded by the vastness of the universe.
I'm 32 now so I figure that by the time I'm your Father's age, it should be possible. Seriously!

I always wanted to be an artist. A creator, not necessarily drawing and painting... acting, singing, comedian, musician would have been good too.
The only one I was remotely good at was acting. My practical side won out and I pursued a career that could pay me now. I figure I will be an actor when I retire. In the meantime I entertain and create in other ways.

Me? I always wanted to be an astronaut. I was just 15 days shy of my 7th birthday when I sat absolutely glued to our black & white television set, and watched Neil Armstrong step out onto the moon. I've wanted to be out there ever since. While my son, and certainly my grandchildren, will probably be able to stay at the Sandals resort on the Sea of Tranquility...I'll more than likely never get to go.

More than once I've been told I should try doing stand-up because I can make almost anything funny(like being attacked by a duck). I think what holds me back from trying is 1) maybe a crowd not finding things as funny as 3 or5 people together would and 2) speaking in public. It's not that you should try for the sake of getting ahead in life, though. It's for the experience of saying you did it and having one less regret when your sun sets.

This is a work in progress for me. Who knows if I can reach some of these in ten years time though: A few but..
I'd like to play soccer professionally. At least get hand picked for a national team. Liverpool would be good.. To live in Canada, maybe become a citizen. Not sure about that yet. I'd like to see change in my part of where I'm from. Reunite with a bitter friend. Have a face to face with my mum, have the courage to finally say what I need to say to her. I'd like to do something Xtreme. Bunjee jump, whitewater raft on a B.C river, Skydive. Climb the rockies. Learn to snowboard in one season. I'd like to have some idea of what I'm going to do when I graduate. I'd like to be a ship welder trade first or college?? I'd like to see NewYork, ground zero I'd like to travel from the north of Africa to the South, maybe do some social projects along the way, irregation, build schools, something good I would like to have sex soon..one day... I'd like to have a girlfriend. Stop thinking about what happens after you die To get out of an endless pattern. |

I've always dreamt of growing up, going to med school, and becoming a doctor. First, i started out wanting to be a Pediatrician. But realized that they are usually in an office type setting and typically not in the actual hospital. Then i wanted to be an ER Surgeon. And there's no reason that wish ever really went away..... other than deciding that if i ever did grow the ambition to go to school for that long.... that I'd definitely want to be an Ob/GYN. More so leaning towards the Obstetrician side of that, but i guess either way I'd be looking at a lot of vagina's. haha..... I can still to this day go sit in the ER of any hospital and be completely 150% content for hours on end. Just watching what goes on....smellng the hospital....the soap....the cafeteria food. AGGH....... I love it!!! But i just don't have confidence enough in myself to get through all the years of schooling for it. Having to major/minor in something like, Biology or Chemistry just to get Pre-Med??? Then...allll those years and residency and what not?? Pff..... i don't believe in myself enough. But maybe one day..... I could see myself as a professional student.... getting so many degrees and then seeing M.D. after my name one day would be the last degree I'd get. idk.......
