Those other Super Bowl ads
There was a thread about the Focus on the Family Super Bowl ad that ended up a non-event.
Here are a couple of other ads that apparently were voted highly by viewers. Any others you guys liked?

I was promptly going to say 'no', and leave it at that. But I'm not the one to be snarky or curt like that.
I thought this year was a horrendous display of commercialism and lack of creativity that has extended back several years; heck, it may have always been present. Most of the ads sucked (I thought I was watching one long corporate-tied commercial for Doritos, Bud Light, CarMax and Hyundai, with accessories after the fact to complement them). There was one I liked though: Cars.com - Timothy Richman - (2010) :60 (USA) | Adland.tv (The Youtube channel, "CarscomTV" has a running series on this kid, if you are interested) and the equally as good original concept:

I also thought it was a weak year for ads, especially the truly misogynistic ones (especially the portable video player one). Seeing the lists of the national favorites just makes me more sad.
I had a personal dislike for the GoDaddy ad with the massage therapist. I think my favorites were the two Bud Light ads related to Lost.

In the asteroid ad, the geeky science guy who kisses the girl is played by a friend of StellaLuna's from drama school. His name is Fred. Every time we see him on a commercial, she squeals "Fred!!".
He was also on the KGB commercial, the guy who got the phrase "I surrender" in Japanese and avoided being squashed by the sumo wrestler. |
