He's had some injury problems in the past and he's been less than invincible in the past few years compared to when he first jumped on the scene.
Plus, no power closer has lasted more than a couple of years. The elbow or shoulder leaves them long before the player was ready to go.
Mariano hasn't given concrete reasons to expect a fall, but past history with relievers has shown that it's usually a quick career.
Unless he develops a knuckleball.
