It's a bit scary that we're basing who we vote for NOT on the merit of their achievements, but because there is "nobody better out there".
While this election will be different for me, as I am determined to get the incumbent out of office, I always vote my conscience. If there is a canditate out there who's voting record and proven philosophies somewhat resemble mine, that person has my vote. Granted, to date, they've basically been garbage votes, but I feel it is better to go with who I'd like to win, rather than bandwagon on with a canditate that's more likely.
