If I remember properly, you can set the domain or workgroup with Windows NT by right clicking the Network neighborhood, go to properties on the context menu , then on the properties screen, the first tab (identification or computer name), there's a change button. You click on that, and you can change either the machine name, or the workgroup name. You'll need to reboot after that.
As for sharing, right click the folder you want to share. There should be a sharing item on the context menu You can setup the share through that. There may be some issues with usernames, since NT uses user based passwords for permissions. I believe you can setup a user with the same username & password as you use to log onto the Win98, so that user can get to the NT machine's shares.
BTW, you didn't mention, is it NT workstation or server?
