Well, I live in New York City, and this is a really sad event, but it does NOT reflect everyday life in the city, nor does it reflect the average New Yorker's attitude.
I'm really saddened by this tragedy, but also pissed off at the following:

The 2003 blackout should have proved that thats not the case...
This death seems extremely suspicious - three cars in a row, all speeding dangerously, all hit and run... I don't know, but this does not seem like your normal accident. It seems like a calculated, planned, and well-executed murder. *shrug*
