um, buy him some lessons? 6 months worth should be enough. after that, if he has any real talent, he'll be able to learn on his own just by playing along with cds/mp3s.
at first, its best to give him easy stuff to play with, like say, most Stones tunes. or bad company. very basic rhythm in those as well.
later, as he improves you could give him the more complicated stuff, like Zep, the Who, Rush, etc.
