Yoiu can challenge it castex, but from a engineering standpoint, not stereotypical, (post war) French cars are poorly desinged.
Perhaps the worst component is the addition of engine accesories. In one Car and Driver review, the writer noted that when looking in french engine compartment it always appears that AC compressor, altenator, powersteering, and other accesories were afterthoughts crammed in on a deadline.
And just as french automotive technology has stagnated, so has the continuity between exterior interior design. It seems that the cars are designed from the outside ignoring the inside or vice versa.
Unfortunately, since The Delage or the Voisin, the Francos have gone funky...
