Opinions about Renault 19 16V
Hello fellow TFP motor-enthusiasts!<br>
I'm thinking of buying a Renault 19 16V -93 model. It has a 1.8 liter 16V engine with 140hp, 0-100(km/h) 7.9s etc. I need some reassurance or opinions against it to make sure if it's a good deal or not(or to make my decision easier). So, speak freely your mind if you know something I need to know about this specific type of Renault.<br><br> Thank you very much

Hello Nimi,
It's fast and flimsy. Not particularly well-built, cheap interior, but it has a good engine. Contemporary reports were very complementary about the handling and the car's great value as anyone who wanted a hot Renault at the time went for the - smaller - 5 GT Turbo. I wouldn't want to crash one. Good luck! |

Speaking as a person who had the dispelasure to drive a Peugeot 505 wagon for a while, RUN! Sure all the french bashing is silly but when it comes to cars stay the F*ck away from Peugeots, Citroens, and especialy Renaults!

Well... there's as many opinions as there's people, so I guess Mr. coventryblack is entitled to speak his But for fairness sake I must say that comparing a Renault 19 to Peugeot 505 is a bit far fetched... 'cause 505 is what it is. IMHO.
And finally back to the subject... I tested the car on thursday, it seemed pretty fine I think. One tiny spot of rust, handling was very well, and the overall feel was pretty positive. I'm going to take it to a proper inspection on monday and then I'll either buy it or flush it. Let's see.

Yoiu can challenge it castex, but from a engineering standpoint, not stereotypical, (post war) French cars are poorly desinged.
Perhaps the worst component is the addition of engine accesories. In one Car and Driver review, the writer noted that when looking in french engine compartment it always appears that AC compressor, altenator, powersteering, and other accesories were afterthoughts crammed in on a deadline. And just as french automotive technology has stagnated, so has the continuity between exterior interior design. It seems that the cars are designed from the outside ignoring the inside or vice versa. Unfortunately, since The Delage or the Voisin, the Francos have gone funky...

How fast can a Renault 19 16v phase 2 go from 0-60mph? Ive seen 7.4 7.7 7.9 8.2 i think they are quicker does anyone have a pretty accurate time? If someone could let me know i would be most greatful. I get the impression the engines seem to give out different times or something.
