The light grease as a primer is good insurance and harms nothing. I would hate to have to drain the oil and drop the pan because I got no oil flow.
What oil are you using for break in? First oil change @ 300 miles. Change it again @ 1000.
Idle speed may well depend on yur final choice of cam.
