I just finished writing up my own statement of purpose for grad school.
Convey your enthusiasm about your field of study. Tell your story. Tell them why you have chosen it. Tell them what you intend to do with the knowledge you will gain. Talk about any experience you have, especially those that made you want to go into the field. Tell them what you can do for them.
Above all, be enthusiastic. I know.. its hard to convey 'enthusiasm', but they want that.
Its better to write down any areas within the field that interest you. You can always change that later, you probably will, as you get to know more about it. Do some research, there must be some that interest you more. Perhaps you can say that although you interested in this and this, you are always open to new ideas...etc ..etc...
