I like it a lot. It does require patience (dont expect to get it up and running in an afternoon--it took me nearly two weeks of tinkering) and some basic linux knowledge, but the program itself is very polished. I was expecting it to be like many linux programs are--a sort of interminable beta, never feeling finished. I was pleasantly surprised with MythTV, it is very well done.
I still dont have my remote working. We just got the box running a few days ago, and I havent gotten a chance to play with the remote yet.
I would suggest installing via KnoppMyth (
www.mysettopbox.tv). It is a Knoppix based install that takes a lot of the annoyances out of compiling, etc. It is also ready for Hauppauge based remotes, so no kernel recompile. I would suggest a PVR-250 or 350 for a hardware based encoder. They both come with remotes too, and I believe KnoppMyth is already set up for the exact remote that it comes with.
