I am sitting, staring into a dell ultrasharp display, and it is a nice site. Very easy on the eyes, bright, and fast enough to play games and not notice. Looks like they are going for about $500 at dell.com right now.
One word of warning: If you buy a flat panel, please don't stick with standard VGA cables. Most displays have a fairly cheap A/D converter in them, and you will end up with blurry areas many times on your screen. These blurry areas are not the display, they are just artifacts of going from digital to analog and back to digital. If you get any card with a DVI output and use it, the display will become clearer than any CRT you have ever seen.
