Where to begin? I guess Lasereth got me started on the 17inch path the other day when he told me to just save the $$$ and get a 17inch instead of a 19inch LCD. Originally when I decided that is what I would do with my Christmas winnings, I figured 19inch LCD.

I have done some research and maybe that is not the thing to do. I want to be able to game with this thing and what I have learned is that you have to be a little careful when picking an LCD monitor if you want to be able to play games on it. You will see ghosts and it will look crappy if you pick a bad one (despite price level).

The other thing is that

1. Most 19 inch LCDs that I can afford are 1280x 1024
2. This is the same resolution as a decent 17inch which means a higher dot pitch
3. The response rates are slower in 19s that I can afford
4. Maybe I should look at a 17inch LCD instead and get a really good one

With that in mind can anyone let me know what they think here? Let me know:

1. What to buy
2. Where credible reviews can be found
3. Where to buy
4. Anything else you think I should know

I have amassed about $700 for this although if I am getting a 17, I may not need to spend that much and I can get some new car stereo speakers (I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Infinity Gold Stereo System and all but one speaker are either blown or just completely not working...yuk) if I have money left over.

I can also wait some if someone has some information about a great product that is comming and will be a good value. I don't need to buy this today if there is something MAJOR comming.

Oh yeah one more thing. There was a killer review on Tomshardware.com that was very informative, but it only covered four models. while it was hugely in depth, I wish some others were reviewed. I mean sometimes the manufacturer has changed the model number some (Samsung 172x vs Samsung 173P) and I don't know if there are different guts or if the case is just different.
