Now, it looks interesting, and there's obviously going to be another suprising twist, but...

According the the leaked script, which many hoped was a fake considering the following, this is what happens:

Spoiler: The 'beasts' are actually construction equipment that have come to tear the village down (hence the red paint/yellow flags). They are not living in the 1880's but present day. While I admit it is a good idea for a Twilight Zone episode, and is almost identical to Roger Cormans 'Teenage Caveman,' it is also incredibly dumb for a movie. As is the final line (probably changed now though):

"Crazy fuckin' white people!"
