You gotta remember that even if you get the jumper setting correct on the HDD, you still have to put it on the right connector on the IDE cable. Make sure the HDD is on the Master connector on the IDE cable, not the Slave.

I'd try to help with the jumper settings, but the settings vary for each HDD. There's not much we can do without pictures.
