Actually, that is not the ideal thing to do.
This would be better IMO. Working muscles that assist in working the bigger muscles together.
day 1 - chest/tri/abs
day 2 - back/bi
day 3 - shoulders/traps
day 4 - legs/abs
What it comes down to is that everybody is different so when it comes to training splits everyone must choose the one which gives them the best results. I have seen the best results with coupling the above mentioned body parts during each workout session.
