Like I said, it provides your body with more ATP, ergo you will be able to put up a few more reps thus increasing your gains. You should find that by taking a creatine supplement you are able to do more reps, sets or weights before hitting the fatigue point.
To describe it in scientific terms (taken from an article on one of my health manuals) "Creatine quickly replaces ATP's spent phosphate group. It accomplishes this by obtaining a phosphate group of its own to become phosphocreatine, or PCr. It is this phosphate group that PCr later donates to ADP to recreate ATP. The end result is that ATP is recharged to power muscular activity with the help of PCr."

He said he wants to gain mass. You will never get bigger by lifting weights that are not pushing your limits, and contrary to what you said, if you have somebody to spot you for your last few reps you will even get better results then if you were to be lifting weights that you can easily finish with no help. Not sure why you said what you said, but it isn't accurate at all
