Creatine doesn't really help you add muscle. At most I believe it just pulls more water into your muscles which makes them swell a bit and look bigger, but as soon as you stop the creatine, the water goes bye bye
![]() Best way to add mass is to get on a good lifting routine and make sure you're eating enough protein so your body has all the muscle building blocks it needs.

getting those extra couple reps and fatiguing your muscle even more isn't what you want unless you want to land your butt in the surgery room...If you want to build strength do 5 sets of 5 on a weight that you can comftorably do. It shouldn't be so hard that you have to have someone help you with the last few reps. If you lift weights on a regular schedule you will get stronger, but if you don't know what you are doing in the weight please ask somebody because its very easy to hurt yourself without even knowing that you're doing it.

To describe it in scientific terms (taken from an article on one of my health manuals) "Creatine quickly replaces ATP's spent phosphate group. It accomplishes this by obtaining a phosphate group of its own to become phosphocreatine, or PCr. It is this phosphate group that PCr later donates to ADP to recreate ATP. The end result is that ATP is recharged to power muscular activity with the help of PCr." Quote:

I think the problem is people aren't thinking of supplements like Creatine, Glutamine or Protein properly.
You see, the supplements do nothing more than help your body maximize your workout. Creatine will help you get out more reps by providing energy for muscles in movement. You'll be able to lift more intensely, with more reps. Harder workout = more muscle. Glutamine helps the body absorb and make use of Protein as effeciently as possible. This is the recovery phase. Your percentage rate of growth will increase thanks to this. This has all been proven. But on Creatine specifically, Eastern atheletes have been using Creatine for over 20 years, and have yet to provide or show any adverse effects. Also, Native Americans who ate a nearly all-meat diet were eating the same amounts of creatine as recommended through these pills. There is nothing unnatural going on. |

Plan9 i never said easily finish, but you shouldn't have someone actively spotting you like you can't push the weight up. My teams trainer knows what he's talking about, he's been doing this all of his life and i will trust him. Too much strain on the muscle can and will eventually cause damage that WILL require surgery to fix and will take a long time in rehab to get back to normal.
Oh its good to strain, but people think that if they do it all in 1 set that they will get bigger, and thats just not true. |

Spotting is a well known and used practice of weight training. It helps you get over stuck spots in your lift and helps you eek out a couple of more reps, giving all your muscle fibers a chance to fatigue. Otherwise, your weakest muscle will always dictate progress. Now, there is a responsibility to spotting. Spotting is MAINLY for safety, but that isn't the "active spotting" concern. I would also recommend not to complete more than a few reps with a spotter's help. If you did half a set with the spotter's help, then you're going about it wrong. |

Creatine is pretty much just a rip off. I cycled on Cell-Tech creatine for one month and wasn't really happy with the end results. It did do everything it said it would, increase muscle mass and give you that extra boost you need in the weight room but after you have cycled off it for about a week you'll start saying.....Where the hell did all my muscle go???. It is true that you will lose your muscle mass just as fast as you gained it. Is it safe?? Sure if you take it correctly. Is it worth it?? Yeah if you plan on buying it for the rest of your life. Good Luck.

I used it about 4 years ago and I can vouch for the stuff working. You will get bigger and have a little more added strength. But I was a little timid to take it all of the time because we all new nothing of future side effects. So I took it for 1-2 months, then a month off, then back on it for 1-2 months. Its the only supplement that I have ever taken and havent had any complaints. The only thing is that you have to drink lots and lots of water when you are taking it. I made the mistake of taking heavy doses and then heading to a party after the workout...then the next morning we partied again at the beach. I cramped up like never before...just keep yourself hydrated and it will be all good.
