I'm really glad you're giving this cat a chance - so many people just give up on their pets. But, if the problem is with the older cat, as in Cynthetiq's case, sometimes the best option might be finding them a new home. Not all people get along and can live with each other, why do we assume that all pets should? I hope you can find a way to solve this problem without having to give him away, though - it sounds like he has a good home
