portugal is somewhat extraordinary, as there are monkeys at the top that you can feed and you can (usually) see Africa from your vantage point. it's also interesting, on the drive to the Rock, to see the social disgust with british occupation.
although not for the faint of heart, I found the bullfights to be spectacular in its own right. it's akin to the circuses of Rome, and it's similarly downright primal in many ways, but I think it's worth seeing something that's been a part of the culture for hundreds of years. of course, leave it to an american to show utter contempt for something that is to the natives an expression of heritage.
