Just to get thread back to the Cowboys...
(If you want to discuss Chambers, why not start another thread so everyone knows the discussion is going on).
Let me start off by saying that I hate the Dallas Cowboys (Thanks, Jerry Jones). And, I detest Bill Parcells (Thanks ESPN, NY Giants, et al).
That said, go back to the beginning of the season and think about it. Everyone said that there wasn't enough talent on the Cowboys to do much of anything. Parcells was going to need two to three years to transform them into his type of team. Carter and Hutchinson were going to battle it out to be starting QB, but neither fit Parcells model for a QB. But in spite of all the negatives, everyone figured that what would save them was their defense. It was pretty good last year and there were signs of improvement this preseason.
Now, Parcells has gotten more out of the talent that he has to work with than anyone expected. They are still a work in progress, but they have made giant strides.
They probably need to win two more games to be sure of making the playoffs. I don't think that they will win the division because Philly has finally found their stride. But, I do think they will win enough games to make the playoffs.
Parcells has a long week because of the Thursday game. Parcells' teams are not usually "come from behind" teams, particularly this one. So once Miami got ahead by a couple of scores, it was unlikely that the Cowboys could come back. But you can bet that he will get them back to doing enough running to control the clock. From everything that has been said, Carter has made great strides and is working hard to become a Parcell-style QB. As long as the games are close, you can't count them out.
I look for them to be a wild card team, but lose in the first round.
