i say it means nothing - its just how they are used to having their hair.
i used to have the same problem - my girls hair always used to 'hide' her face from me. she didnt even realise it was like that. there was nothing behind it.
hrmm.. i missed the 'social studies class' bit. maybe she does that when she wants to knuckle down and work in that class? thats the best i can think of. take a hair tie next class - 'you should wear your hair up, to not hide such a pretty face'.
worth a shot - whats the worst that could happen?
