I thought Alanis had denounced Canada and was claiming to be from LA now. A lot of my old friends went to high school with her. She would hang out by her car and play her first album (pure teen-pop) really loud all the time.
The Tragically Hip are pretty much the quintessential Canadian band. Although I've pretty much given up on them based on the weak and generic albums they've released over the past 8 or so years.
Fully Completely and
Up To Here are a couple of the finest albums released by a Canadian group in the past 15 years.
Edit, Averett beat me to posting The Hip and I had forgotten about the Headstones (They're both from Kingston, which probably makes it the rockingest town in Canada)
